Those with 7 Month Olds - What Are You Feeding Your Baby & When

My daughter is 7 months old and she is eating a variety of fruits and veggies now. I am just curious what other babies of same age are eating.
I guess I'm more looking for sample daily schedules of when the baby eats and gets bottle/breastfed and how much at each time.
Thanks!

What can I do next?

There's lot of info. online and for "menus."

Just a tip though... since you seem to be breastfeeding/giving a bottle...and she is on solids... make sure that you give breast/bottle FIRST BEFORE solids. Otherwise, baby gets too full and will not drink as much. If on the otherhand you give solids "first" before breast/bottle... this is done to "wean" a baby off of breast... and it may affect your breast output.

For the 1st year of life, the PRIMARY source of nutrition for a baby is still breastmilk/formula.

As for when baby eats, and how much... well, it varies per your schedule and every baby has a different appetite levels, and it varies each day too. Even adults have varying appetites each day. Feed baby until you notice she is "full."

For example: In the morning, she wakes (1) nurse her (2) wait a bit 15-30 minutes, then give her "breakfast." Remember, a baby's tummy is tiny... and amounts are in terms of teaspoons or tablespoons...not "jars." (3) after that... usually about 2-3 hours of "awake" time a baby gets tired, (4) nurse her, then morning nap time. (5) she wakes from nap... she has awake/play time, nurse her etc. (6) if you have her on 2-3 meals per day at this age.. then feed her "lunch." (7) awake time...play etc. (8) Afternoon nap time....nurse her (9) same pattern for "dinner." on and on. (10) bedtime, nurse before hand. On and on. For me... when my babies were this age, I nursed before each meal, and before each nap/bedtime, and after each nap. I breastfed and this was my routine. My kids grew like weeds, and my Pediatrician said it was great that breast nursing was still prominent and primary in their "nutrition" routine. Every person may be different.

Each Mom has their own "types" of food they are giving baby at this age...but it has to be age appropriate and staying away from "allergy" trigger foods or honey or nut based things etc. Also do not give "egg whites" (too much protein for a baby's kidneys to handle yet) for example. Nice and ripe avocados are great, fresh bananas, tofu, papaya, peas, squash, Also, do not give "spinach" yet... until after 9 months old because it has certain enzymes in it which a baby's system cannot handle yet. And, naturally make sure the foods are pureed or mashed up. Introduce "new" foods one at a time and give about 1+ weeks for each new food, before switching to another so you can watch out for allergic reactions and for the baby's system to get used to it.

Also, it really depends on your baby's ability to "eat", swallow, and not choke too. Evey baby has their own ability and own pacing. I've known babies this age who were still thrusting out with their tongue and pushing their food out... and others are perfectly fine with "stage 2" foods (which is basically a mere bit thicker and more in quantity), or... later "stage 3 foods." Some still choke. So go according to your own baby's signals and abilities.

If anything, Your Pediatrician should have a "list" for you to look at.

Good luck,

My daughter is 7.5 months old. I work full time but am still breastfeeding therefore our typical schedule goes like this...I nurse her at 6am before going to work. She usually sleeps until 7am. We then give her a 4 oz. bottle of breast milk at 8:30-9 about an hour later we give her "breakfast" of oatmeal, some fruit (mango, peaches, plums, pears), and plain yoghurt. Up to this point I'm making all her food and storing the pureed food in ice cube trays so she gets 1 ice cube of oatmeal and one ice cube of fruit and a big spoonful of yoguhrt. She naps after that. Then we feed her another 4oz bottle of breastmilk at 11:30-12. Then an hour after that we give her "lunch" of 2 ice cubes of some vege (carrots, squash, peas, or yams) and 1 ice cube of brown rice (cooked and then blended with water). She naps again and then around 3-4pm she gets a 3 oz bottle of breastmilk and then I get home around 5pm. I usually nurse her around 7pm and then feed her something small before bedtime...like oatmeal with breastmilk or avocados or bananas. She nurses once more at bedtime which is like 8:30-9pm. Hope that helps! She's also been loving watermelon in one of those pacifier strainer things! You put the whole fruit in the strainer and your baby can chew on it without biting pieces off and choking. Kinda cool. She's also been into drinking water from a cup (although she's still a little confused by it because she keeps putting her tongue in the cup...I think I need to buy a sippy cup). To complete the day...after going to bed she still nurses at around midnight and then again at like 4am.....

HI Yvetete! I have 7 1/2 month old twins and here is their schedule. They get a 6 ounce bottle at 7am. At 10am they get a stage 2 gerber food. at 11am they get another 6 ounce bottle. At 2pm they split a jar of a stage 3 gerber (so about 3 ounces). At 3pm they get another 6 ounce bottle. At 6pm they get a stage 2 gerber food and then at 7pm they get a bath an another 6 ounce bottle. They are offered a sippy cup with water all day that they do drink as well as various finger foods. They can have as much of that as they want as well. I usually offer some of the gerber toddler cookies at 2pm and at 6pm. I hope that helps...feel free to message me if you have any questions
