I favor Costco.
I actually will go out of my way or do without if my only option has anything to do with Walmart.
You can't pay me enough to shop at Sams/ Walmart.
I have been a loyal Costco shopper for years and will continue to shop there, but I just got a Sam's membership because it is right around the corner and so convenient. What should I make sure to try or buy at Sam's? Don't want to miss out on anything special! If you have both cards, what do you prefer to buy at Sam's? Thanks!
Thanks for all the feedback and the suggestions. I made my first trip to Sam's. One thing I found that I was excited about was the Olive Garden Salad dressing that they sell! I like Costco better, but my husband was impressed that the aisles in the food area were wider.

I only have a SAMs card. I have been thinking of doing costcos but Southlake's store is SO busy.
I agree their croissants are amazing. They freeze well, too.
The sub rolls are great for making subs for church dinners.
Their rotisserie chickens are a lot of meat for the money.
We do propell, regular water, green tea, tortillia chips, nuts, frozen chicken, shreeded cheese, butter, peanut butter, crackers.
Paper plate, cups, napkins, tp, paper towels, trash bags.
Mucinex, ibuprofen, vitamins, green coffee bean extract.
Bananas, apples, strawberries in season along with peaches in season.
Mechanical pencils, books, videos.
Dishwasher packets and swiffers. Somethings, I am not sure if they are bargains but I hate shopping and I hate running out of stuff!
I buy the large jug of thick, square, laffy taffy candies.
I dropped my Sam's Club membership because there wasn't anything I liked better at Sam's. Now - if BJs opened, I would be right there.
Diapers and wipes! All diapers and wipes have free shipping to your home, so I am able to save some money and have them magically appear at our house! We do not have a Costco in our area, and the Sam's Clubs are each an hour away. We usually get out there once every 6 weeks or so and do some shopping, but since we have a small family (and the kiddos are very young), I usually do not get very much fresh food there. . . mostly things like big boxes of oatmeal and tons of paper goods.
We only have a Sam's here. I love their croissants. Also, their cakes and cupcakes are really good if you have a party and need something cheap. Those are the only Sam's specific items I buy there, everything else is name brand bulk items.
We've compared Costco to Sam's in trying to decide if we should switch.
Sam's is closer to us.
I got a guest pass last year and tried it out.
For us, there are certain foods we get at Costco that Sam's just doesn't have.
We like Costco's stuffed salmon and turkey roll up sandwiches.
I like the selection of fresh fish filets at Costco.
The chicken breasts I got at Sam's were slimy (they smelled ok) and that's not something I ever experienced with chicken breasts from Costco.
The frozen cheese ravioli brands are fine from both places.
You can get leg of lamb at both places.
We decided to stay with our Costco membership.
There just wasn't anything that Sam's had that sold me on obtaining their membership.
diapers
baby wipes
lunch meat
batteries
Dinner rolls. 5 doz eggs is cheaper there than Costco too. They also carry a larger selection of ice-cream. I think dinner rolls are the one different thing I think they have besides selection. I think the selection at our Sams is better than Costco now.
We have both but SAMs is closer. I buy toilet paper and paper towels, almonds, gum, birthday cakes, coffee k-cups. I probably prefer Costco options plus their business ethics are better I do believe.
I currently have both memberships and find there is not much overlap in the product offerings, if you can believe that. I would say that I favor Sam's and if one membership had to go, it would be Costco.
What do I buy at Sam's... Northern toilet paper, Sam's brand of paper towels, their brand baby wipes, ProEnamel toothpaste, dial bodywash, Sam's hoagie rolls, broccoli slaw salad mix, ground meat, tires, Byron's pulled pork, lunchmeat, Bob Evans sausage. I'm sure there is more. I'm just drawing a blank right now.
I buy all our lunch fixins and breakfast stuff at sams! juice boxes, chips, crackers, that kind of thing. And then frozen breakfast stuff, those jimmy dean french toast sandwiches SOOO good and so much cheeper than at a normal grocery store. They have an amazing cheese section at the one here. cheeses of all kinds. I could spend a fortune on just cheese. I am a cheese addict.
I have both:) Some things are just cheaper at Sam's like diapers and paper products. Costco has more options for the health conscious. I've taken to making a comparison list for the things I most often but and get certain things at each.
