Try it on yourself- it's not exactly painful, but it's not pleasant.
So what is the story, it seems painless but my son screams as if this is the end. Is it because he is restrained or does this thing really hurt? Clue me in Moms!
Thanks

I don't think it hurts, but it feels "odd" We always called it the brain sucker. LOL
It doesnt hurt. How would you like to be held down and have something stuck up your nose and suck your mucus out. Its just uncomfortable and babies hate being restrained. No worries it is required somtimes(had to do it every 15 min when my daughter got RSV at 6 months).
the suction it causes is unpleasant at best. I dont think it hurts unless its being jammed in there and hitting the sensitive parts of the nose. I think all babies dislike it highly. Never met one that begged for a nose suck
I doesn't hurt.
They all scream when you do it, but they breathe SO much better once you've got the mucus cleared.
They calm down again fairly quickly.
It just feels wierd. Don't worry...just be sure to use some saline drops first to loosen up any dry crusties...because sucking those without saline CAN hurt!
It doesn't hurt, but it feels strange. And no kid wants to be held down. He can't understand at you are helping him, so just do it anyway.
So sorry!

It may hurt, but an ear infection or sinus infection hurt way more. I think, honestly that it may cause their sinus' to compress and may just feel weird. I have drawn blood a time or two so I only use the ones that have the clear roundish part on the tip now, it does not go so far in and it makes an air tight seal if held right.
