The Belly Question Earlier Got Me Thinking About Diastasis Recti

I knew I had this gap. I have ever since my first baby and have never gotten rid of it and figured I never would. But I've been really bummed that while I'm only a few lbs shy of my pre pregnancy weight, sometimes I look 6 mo. pregnant. I get asked if I"m pregnant often. And though I've taken on some pretty aggressive exercise, it seems to be no better and possibly even worse. If I get gassy, I feel like I expand to a good end of second trimester belly.
So I did the self-test and am easily 3 fingers.
Just curious who else has battled with this and what kind of improvement did you get with the right exercise? And did you do special exercise or like me did you do the wrong exercise for it only to make it worse? What did you measure when it was the worst and what did it measure after you worked at it? thanks.

What can I do next?

I have diastasis recti. I have never been able to get rid of it. I exercise often and am fit...but yes my belly sticks out like I'm pregnant. It sucks...but that is life. If you ever are able to fix yours please send me a message to tell me about it! I did the wrong kinds of exercise for years till I learned about diastasis recti..then I made sure to avoid doing the wrong exercises. I don't really measure it or think about it much...except when I see my belly in the mirror and think UGH. I figured it is the price to pay for having 2 kids, 2 c-sections, and a body that does not bounce back. Some people bounce right back to normal after kids. I'm a bit jealous of them.

I had it pretty badly.

Look on Pinterest for post-pregnancy workouts. You should be able to find something with exercises specifically targeting those muscles.

Now those muscles are back how they should be, and my stomach is actually nicely toned. (4years later...). But I can't seem to get rid of my little pooch.

Just Google Search "what execises to do for diastasis recti."
Because some forms of sit ups can make it worse. That is what I was told.
I got diastasis recti from my pregnancies.

Or ask your Doctor.
For me, I did stomach exercises that worked my obliques. That is what I was told.
But again, the advice will vary.

There's no exercise that can fix it. Your muscles have separated. The only way you can repair them is with surgery.

I have a friend that recently got hers repaired and her stomach is back to being tight and flat. She has been extremely happy with the result. I believe her space was about 4 fingers.
