Hi all,

I posted a question regarding ants in my house a couple weeks ago and got great advice. The majority seemed to like the Tarro baits. I bought them and the ants did go away. However, the baits are still there and last night I noticed ants again! This morning, they were ALL OVER my kitchen floor! It's like they have got smart to the baits!! What do I do??

PS: They are also once again back in my master closet crawling around on the carpet and have now shown up in my daughters bedroom by a bookcase. I should mention, my house is not dirty, it is cleaned/vacuumed reguarly along with my kitchen floor swept constantly throughout the day due to my messy kids dropping food. I don't get it! I really don't like pest control companies spraying toxins in my home so if you have any other adivice for what is happening please help!!

Thanks!

What can I do next?

I had the same problem. At first I used terminix, they would do a treatment and insist that I wait at least 20 days or so before I can complain if the ants aren't taken care of. I let this carry on for 3 treatments before I canceled my contract with them and demanded my money back. (not going to get into how hard it was to get my money back from them)
I ended up using a mix I found online. Half Borax (local store, with the detergents) and half powder sugar. I swept it in all the cracks between the walls and floors and the cabinets. They were gone in just a few days!
I did get them again the next year so I just did the same thing right away and we've had no problems.

Ants have been terrible this year. I've heard that filling the cracks where they get in with talcum powder can keep them out.

I've had ant problems over and over just like you.

What I found is that any ant bait doesn't seem to last very long. I had the best luck with a 2-fold approach.

I made my own ant traps with honey mixed with Borax. I placed a dab of honey in the middle of the inside top of a plastic margarine container. I added a little borax to the honey, then I sprinkled a trail of borax around the honey so the ants would have to walk through the honey to get to the borax. I covered the lid with the container and made sure I cut a small hole for the ants to get inside.

I put these where there were ants.

Outside around the foundation and by the patio doors I put the Tarro baits. I did have to switch everything out every few weeks.

I sealed all my food and sweets in plastic bags or containers. Same with salt, my ants like salt for some reason.

I haven't had any trouble since--knock on wood! The ants seem to love the homemade baits and they swarm them, bring back the poison to the nest and then DIE!!!

Good luck! Ants are a horrible problem!

Did you try vinager? Ants really hate that stuff. It messes up their trails and they can't find their way back.

Sorry!

Try this website www.earthclinic.com
I use it for alot of home remedies. I try very hard not to use harsh chemicals. If I can find a less intrusive/harmful way of curing something I will do it. Especially will small kids and animals in the house.
Good luck and GOD BLESS!!
