Terrible Gas Pains in 13 Month Old.

My DD is now 13 months. She has always had a sensitive tummy from birth. She was diagnosed by our GI specilist as having an immature digestive track and also has been on prevacid for 6 months for severe reflux. Now that she is eating table food, she loves to try everything and has a very healthy appetite. She has a couple times a month terrible gas pains keeping her up at night. She screams and wails unconsolably for hours on end and finally will calm down after she passes gas. We have tried everything from gas drops, to monitering her diet, to tummy rubs, heat, bicycle with her legs and nothing seems to help. Is this normal? What can I do to help her ease her tummy pain??

What can I do next?

Try "Hyland's Colic Tabs" which is for these ailments.
I've used it for my daughter, who had bad gas problems as a baby and it helped. It's homeopathic.
they have it available on www.amazon.com, or perhaps at your local natural food store.

Perhaps there are certain foods that are causing the gas pains? Or is it just anything she eats?

Good luck,
Susan

B.,

It sounds like you are doing everything you can...maybe it's time to see the Doctor again and ask for advice. Everything you listed is what I did for my son when he was battling gas issues. I hope someone has something I haven't thought of or tried.

Good Luck!

Hi B.:
My Grandson had the same problem, and they discovered that his digestive tract, couldn't handle the (Iron) in formula's He experienced so much pain and constipation,it became dangerous.Ask her Dr about this.We had to put him on a formula with no Iron.I wish you and your darlin the best.

Homeopathics! they are natural, safe & effective. you can either find a Naturopath or Homeopathic Doctor or do research on your own. Also sounds like she could use tummy comfort tea on a regular basis. sweeten with agave and they love it.

Try keeping a food diary for her, maybe she is allergic to something. My son showed all the signs of reflux and turns our he has food allergies! He was exclusively breastfed at the time, once I cut the foods out of my diet his symptoons went away. His allergies are to tomato, and everything that's related, citrus, brewers yeast and he's sinsitive to cow milk.

To help her with gas go to wholefoods and but TUM EASE it's made for babies and kids. They only get one teaspoon and it works wonders!! It's made of fennel, dill and some other stuff I can't remember right now ;) you can google it to see where else they sell it. It's the only product that works for my little guy (11.5 months)

He maybe allergic to something she eats. Keep a journal of what what she is eating, it could be the same thing every time that would be a great thing to find out. She may not be getting enough veg. or fruits they have emzymes that help digest the food. Another fast help is baby probiotics you can get them at Lassen's vitamins. That is what is in yogurt. If you see the commercials it helps your stomach. It puts a protective layer on the wall of the stomach and intestines. Good luck.
