I have used VSMILE which i smore for younger ones but the games are interchangeable I think. We never had any problems with the system or the games and it was always a favorite.
My almost 3 year old son loves to play with the VTech Motion tester game set up in WalMart when we go shopping. So I am thinking of getting this for his 3rd birthday in October. Is this thing durable? Does it keep their attention or is the honeymoon over as soon as they get it? Is there something you'd recommend instead that is similar? Please share your experiences and opinions

We bought the VSmile (before VSMile Motion was available) for our triplets. The games were great and the kids loved it... Problem was, the console only worked for a couple of months. I had thrown out the receipt for the console, but my kids liked the games so much that I actually bought a new console a few months later. Bad news: the second unit quit working almost immediately. Once, a fluke... Twice? I think it's poorly designed which is too bad because the games are great and a lot of fun. We now have the leapster products. I think they're better quality. And I haven't had to waste another $90 to replace anything.
Well, we didn't have this item, but my daughter had the vsmile game system. She got it when she was 3-4 years old and just outgrew it this year (she's almost 9).
It maintained well, and kept her interest well.
I found a set with 4 games & 2 controllers for $25 at a yard sale. I've seen them on Craigslist too. My son is almost 2, so he's not quite old enough, but it still worked after the ladies 3 kids at the yard sale had used it.
we bought the Vsmile when it first came out and within 3 months it quit working so I returned it and got another one and it quit with in 6 months... so I gave up, sold it last week at a garage sale for $5 for anyone who wanted a broken game system with a stack of working games. Keep your receipt if you purchase one and keep up with the warranty info!
we bought our 4 yr old a nintendo DS instead, it may not be educational but it does keep him busy when I have to take him with me places that are not Kid friendly.
We bought the v-tech system when our son was little and he played and played with it - I hate to throw away good toys as this and am keeping it for my grandchildren to use when they are at our house... The first little one is almost 3.
I went the Leapster route and my kids love them. Both of my children have handheld Leapster systems. Both got them when they were 3 and my 8 yr old still plays with his when we got on trips. I love that the games are entertaining for them as well as educational.
The only problem I found with it was that sometime some games would skip and my daughter would get so mad..lol.. but if you get one, check out ebay.. you can get the games pretty cheap sometimes.. just watch the shipping- they will get you there. Good luck!
We bought our daughter the vsmile when she was 3 and she still plays it sometimes now and she's 8. I've never had a single problem with it and the games are really cute. She also has the handheld version and it's been dropped about 100 times. It was great for taking in the car and into restaurants to keep her busy.
My daughter is 14 now. Just 3 weeks ago, I put her V-tech laptop computer in the storage box for her to do whatever she wants with when she moves out.
I hate to throw out good toys. I might have a grandchild someday, I might be babysitting a neighbor.
THe V-tech laptop we bought so she could "be like daddy" YEARS ago, still works well. It is in almost perfect condition.
The v-tech brand is something I would certainly check into buying if I needed to get something for a toddler. The one we hav ehas been used extensively and STILL works. I realize there are newer and better V-tech products....I do support them.
My daughter used to carry this laptop around the house "just like daddy". It was SO cute.
Best wishes....they grow up SO fast!
