my son just turned 1 on the 15th of this year he has been he's happy self and he's been putting he's little fist in he's mouth and he has been pulling he's ears he does not have a fever he's been eating he does not wake up at nights except for like 2 days ago he woke up crying in tears i checked he's temp and he had 97.1 soo of course no fever at all. it was somewhat @ 2:00am he went back to bed i gave him some tylenol (genetic braand) and the next day he seemed fine, he was back to he's happy-baby, and he just continues to put hes thumb finger in he's mouth i see no discomfort. but could it be he's 1 yr old molars? i did touch he's gums and there's somethin bulky on he's left side of he's mouth.. soo what could it be? ps my son got he's fron teeth @ 4 months old!

What can I do next?

Could be an ear infection AND teeth. My kids had them run together...along with very high temps.

It could be either... but I know that sometimes teething pain radiates up into the ear area, and the baby can't tell that it's coming from the mouth and pulls on his ear... My DD pulls on her ears when she's teething. (Doc. said no infection...)

sounds like both. the putting fist in the mouth and the bulge sounds like teething. pulling at the ear sounds like an ear infection and they dont necessarily get fevers with them. my son doesnt. teething makes thier nose run and runny noses can cause ear infections. so my vote is both.

molars are the worst, a lot of surface area to break through, also last the longest...
they pull on their ears & face, their sinuses are swollen

if no other ear symptoms, I'd say just teeth

Sounds like teething to me. For future reference, it's highly unlikely for your child to develop an ear infection unless he/she has had a cold. The ear infections almost always happen towards the end of a cold virus. Teething can really disrupt their sleep schedules and cause a lot of fussiness. Once you get back on track, it seems as if another tooth starts coming in or something else! :) They don't know where the pain is coming from and this is why they often grab their ears.
