The best response that I ever got from a teacher gift was when I bought my son's first grade teacher a perenial plant (I think it was an azalea). You can find nice plants for 10 dollars or so.
Hi Everyone!
I'm in need of cute idea for a teacher gift. The gift is for my son's speech teacher. She's very patient and kind with him I'd like to make sure she realizes how much we appreciate her. Any ideas, maybe favorite gifts received from some teachers out there :), would be great!!! Thanks :)
Thanks to everyone for all the great ideas for a teacher's gift. The most suggested idea was a gift certificate to either a restaurant or teacher store which was a great idea! I ended up picking up a certificate at a local teacher's store & one from Panera's. I added a card from my son and a cute box filled with scented candles too. Thanks again for all the ideas! K.

At my daughter's daycare they had Teacher Appreciation week. I bought little colored tin buckets from the dollar store and made a little sign for each. I placed one bucket a day in the lounge for each of the 5 days. Here's what the signs read and items placed in the buckets.
You are lifesavers to our kids! Thank you for all your hard work (placed Life Savors in the bucket)
You make our school a Brighter place (Filled the buckets with bright colored markers)
Because of you our kids are Smarties (placed Smarties in the bucket)
Hugs and Kisses for everything you do (Filled bucket with Hersery's Hugs & Kisses)
You deserve an "Extra Special" week-end.
You are a much appreciated group of teachers and staff! (Filled the bucket with packs of Extra gum)
Turned out cute and cost about $20.00 in total
Hi K.,
I found that personable gifts are the best. Teachers always get something with teacher on it and you can only display so many. Does she drink coffee or tea? You could make a nice little basket with little packs of flavored coffee/tea with a mug and some biscotti's. You can also make a nice gift basket with Bath and Body works antibacteria lotion. If she has to buy her own teaching supplies you can make her a basket of supplies also.
Best of luck.
I always need gift idea because my son has a large IEP team. However this year I only purchased for his LRC & General Ed teacher and my daughters teacher. I ordered a medium sized tote from Lands End for her teacher, with her teachers initials embroidered on it. I also bought a nice/cute package of butterfly shaped stationary and a teachers-poem magnet to put inside of it. I ordered the tote when they offered free shipping and I'm very satisfied with the quality.
IN the past I've gotten things from Bath & Body works and everyone seems to love that stuff. If you purchase something they do not like, they can always exchange it for something from their store without a receipt.
Good Luck!

I always liked gift certificates to the local teacher store. Someone even got me a gift certificate to the local sandwich shop and I loved it.
Some personal gifts are great. Like pictures of the student and I together. Someone put it on a magnet and I still have it on my fridge 5 years later.
I hope this helps.
My husband is a 4th grade teacher. He loves to get gift certificates to restaurants, teacher stores, movies, bookstores. He HATES cofffee mugs, ties, and homemade treats.
Hi K.,
My daughter is only 13 months old, so I haven't had this problem yet, but my cousin is a teacher (4th Grade)and she told me that one of her favorite gifts is a gift card to Staples, Office Max something like that. Teachers now don't always have the funding to get things that they would like for the class and often end up spending their own money on teaching aids and supplies. I don't know if that is the case with your teacher, but it's an idea.
Good Luck!
Go to redenvelope.com They have great ideas. I have a 4yo daughter too, I have gotten gift certificates and then teacher can pick out what he or she wants !

My sister-in-law had her kids draw pictures and took them to Kinkos and had them made into 5x7 notepads! Very cute!

I agree, gift certificates are great! A lot of people don't realize how much of their own money teachers spend on supplies for their classroom.
also, maybe a spa treatment to relax after a hard school year!
:)

Just get her something like movie passes or a gift card. I know alot of teacher and if she has been teaching for a long time, they have lots of nic-naks. It is nice to get them gift cards and she can buy what she likes
Gift certificates are wonderful. Teachers spend a lot of their own money during the school year, especially at teacher stores, office supply stores, Target, doller stores, etc. It would be a cute idea to have your son make a card to go with the gift certificate as well.
