I keep feeling as if I should have done them by now. Then a Canadian tax form came yesterday which made me glad I didn't start them. So I guess now I have no excuses.

Some years it takes me from now until April 15th to get off my butt and do them. As you can tell I am the accountant with NO interest in taxes...

My taxes are mailed to the accountant! He will efile for me. I usually have to pay, and I am early this year with having it all together. :)

I just hope you don't have an HSA. :p I got a message that I couldn't efile without a form, well I didn't care what the form was because I knew the message was wrong.

Turns out the stupid program didn't check the box that said I have a high deductible insurance so I was being taxed on my HSA deduction. Errr

So I checked the box, got another 1,000 back and efiled.

How do people without accounting degrees do this every year? Yikes!

J.:

Ours has been done for several weeks. Already got our State Return. Waiting on the Federal return.

First time in our 15 years of marriage we had them done before April 15 - it's not like we ever owe. But will continue on this habit next year to have them done by 2 Feb.

Do we owe? WAH-Hahahahahahaha....whaaaah, sniff......whimper.....sob.....*hiccup*. (that was hysterical laughter turning into tears, FYI). The answer is, yes, we owe. We own 3 businesses and each year, the tax man cometh. Luckily, we pay in quarterly so there *should* be no nasty surprises! :)

I second what Cheryl said...I am self employed so always wait til the last minute to file, but this year, we needed the return AND are planning a vaca this summer, but it all depended on how well we did on taxes! Well, vacation on! $$ not here yet, but knowing it's coming is good enough for me!

Have a good day!

I efiled about a week ago, it's been accepted, just waiting for it to hit my account. The money I'm getting back is being split between savings and going towards my tummy tuck surgery (since my abs are so split my guts are about to fall out, and the tummy tuck is cheaper than the ab surgery alone!)

Can't wait :) I'll feel SO much better having money back in savings! This year was a little rough!

We are using our tax lady back up in MN. Sent her everything electronically a week ago. Signed the form she sent through email and scanned it back to her. She efiled for us on Monday. Should get MN state by tomorrow or so and federal next Friday. Just got the snail mail package that we have to mail in for IN state.

We are getting a fantastic return. We claim 0 across the board to take care of my self-employment (tutoring). But, I only tutored for a few months last year.

We will pay off the one credit card we used for the big move to IN and to get us through, putting down a chunk on a newer vehicle, and putting the rest in savings. Awwww. The feeling of financial security again. Oh, how I miss thee. :)

Done, e-filed, and waiting (did them Valentine's Night - with beer - we know how to have fun). Pleasantly surprised at the refund. We rarely get much of anything back, but since I started grad school in August that proved to be a good thing for taxes. :)

I'm in the middle. I do our own taxes and because we have so many forms, it takes a while. We owe because we are considered self-employed. I never pay in 100% quarterly on purpose so there is always some due. I am one of the few that doesn't mind filing and paying. I was raised to be grateful to live in this country, flaws and all. I dwell on the positive things that my taxes pay for. And I don't even mind filling out the forms. To keep a positive attitude about all the time it takes, I challenge myself each year to see how closely I estimated our taxes.

We haven't yet made an appointment with our tax guy (complicated return due to self-employment, real estate problem etc.). Hubby is dragging his feet; not sure why. I anticipate enough of a return to offset what we still owe from last year and want to get this done and over with. If we net any kind of return it will get lumped in with savings and tapped into as needed over the year.

Nope, haven't even started yet. Probably will this weekend. Uck. Hopefully we will not owe. I'm always scared to do them! IF we get a decent return, our son needs a new car seat, as he's outgrown his infant car seat! Isn't it fun being a grown-up?

Not yet done, we're going to do them this weekend. No return to us this year - we're going to owe due to investment income. It will probably take us about four hours with Turbo Tax to get everything done and e-filed.

I miss the days when a 1040EZ would get my taxes filed.

The appointment is made for March 10th- my birthday. The upside? The hubs feels bad that this was the earliest appointment our accountant had available, so we're getting a sitter for the evening and going out for a nice dinner that night.

When we walk out they will be finished and e-filed!

Ours are not done. My teenage daughter cleaned one day (I know - and yes the hallelujiah choir did break out in chorus from heaven) and we suspect she threw out a 1099 that included about $8K of commission. Trying to get a copy of a new one is taking WAY too long! My DH continues to bug me about getting a new copy - if I could do it myself we'd have had it. How many times do I need to call my former employer?

But - we are hoping this is the year we won't owe. We both upped our withholding by lowering our exemptions and we recieved less 1099 income than prior years. The last 5 years we've owed between $3K - $5K!!!

I did mine on HR Block online on 1/28, got my refund direct deposited on 2/6 (shocked it was quicker than usual) and most is already "spent" on medical bills. Some is put aside for birthdays and baptism date to be determined. And kids grow too fast so clothes are needed.

Nope. Been slacking a bit this year. Finally got some of the last paperwork in the mail about a week or so ago (the credit union is really slow in the mail dept.) Still waiting on some IRA stuff that usually comes pretty late, but doesn't affect what we owe/get returned---it is just necessary to show the contribution amount should we withdraw from it before retirement.

I finally sorted through the past 3 months worth of mess/statements/receipts, etc (got behind over the holidays). So I will probably call our accountant's office and make an appt to drop them off one day next week. It usually only takes them a week or so, they efile, and then we get our refund within 2 weeks after that Friday. State taxes usually come in a little quicker than the federal ones.

Expect to get back about what we did last year. $2500 or so? One of these days AMT is really going to ruin it for us and we'll have to pay. So we try not to get TOO accurate in what is withheld... lol. That'll likely be vacation $ for this summer.

Not done yet.

That is my job.

Have everything to do it, just need to do it.

I do ours online.

We will not owe...but shouldn't get a huge return either.

Have NO plans on what to do with it...it will just go into the bank.

Turbotaxed the heck out of ours two days ago. Glad the chore is in my rear-view mirror! Since my husband was laid off in August of 2010 and we haven't been able to bring in enough to cover all household expenses since then... (we get close but we're always short each month), the credit card will be receiving our return to keep us afloat until our ship can come throw us a floating doughnut of don't-let-me-drown happiness since it's been our life preserver.
