I am having a hard time potty training my 21 month old daughter (she seems to go everywhere else but the potty!) she started taking her diaper off and wetting her bed and pillow, now I have a mattress pad so that's not an issue and I bought her a LKS so she can't get her pjs off however I can't get the urine smell out off her pillow (and I can't afford to just keep buying her one every time she does this) so if anyone even has an idea I would love to hear from you

What can I do next?

Is she stripping down after you put her to bed? It just be an issue of freedom! Diapers can't be very comfortable. Maybe try pullups or cloth training pants to make her feel a little more grown up. Just stick with it, she should get out of this phase pretty quickly.

Just throw the pillow in the washing machine. Bed pillows need to be washed pretty often anyway.

I tell you what, my little girl (who is now 3 and 85% potty trained), wouldn't keep her diaper on for anything! Duct tape? Ha! She would just shimmy the diaper down, right off her body. I tried Onesies...she also shimmied those down her body. She'd stretch out the neck, and wiggle her arms out, then the rest of it came right off. She was (and still is) quite the Houdini! So sometimes, trying to get them to keep the diaper on, is a huge issue. Anyways, as far as cleaning the urine smell out of her pillow, is it down? If it's not a down pillow, just throw it in the wash with some bleach or color-safe bleach & a good detergent. If it needs spot cleaned, try a pet stain & odor remover. Good luck with the potty training, sometimes it can be a loooong, drawn out process. :)

I have seen people say they pin the PJ tops to the bottoms. Or they use a strip of duct tape around the body so the tot can't pull the tabs up.
We just used cloth diapers with snaps or hooks that my sons aren't strong enough to pull off. The hooks are the best.

Urine is free from bacteria unless your child has an infection. What I did that worked, was just to place the pillow outside in the full sun for a while. It always worked for me, but I did live in AZ for 7 years - we got a lot of sun there!

for the pillow you can buy a plastic covering for it....that way it wont soak in. you can put the pillow case over the plastic.

You can use the animal urine cleaners that are just enzymes. They usually say something on the label about being natural as opposed to just another kind of carpet cleaner and they can be found in the pet section of the store. Good luck!

My 19 month old started doing the same; when we switched the diapers from huggies snug and dry to huggies little movers. For mine it came down to not liking to wear the diaper after she pee'd in it. So, we just change the diaper more often or as needed and let her sleep in the snug and dry ones...no more ripping off diaper. Maybe check the brand/type of diapers you are using the moisture feel can make a difference. As far as the urine smell; when our little one went on the floor and in the bed we washed everything with ALL and poured in a little lemon and baking soda. The floor with water, lemon, and baking soda. I hope it all works out.

I would agree with getting a waterproof pillow case cover. They have them at wal-mart for about $3. You could also get her a $5 pillow from there if you need to replace the stinky one.

I had this problem with my son. You can buy a plastic pillow cover, just like the matress covers. Then all you have to do is wash the pillow case.

Has she shown other signs of being ready to be out of diapers? Maybe she's not totally ready; she's still pretty young. What's the poo like? Does she take diaper off to poo and tell you when she has to go? Good luck. I'm not saying you should wait, becuase you know your child best, but my life was always much easier when I waited till my kids had most of the signs of being ready to be out of diapers. Good luck!
