Yes, because I was at high risk for developing preeclamsia again, with my third pregnancy, I took an aspirin each day. The preeclamsia did not rear its ugly head and I have a very healthy, beautiful red-headed 14 month old daughter. She is clearly very bright (has a good vocabulary for her age) and has great fine and gross motor skills. She was born at 38 weeks only because I made the doctor take her then. (see next paragraph)
My middle son (with whom I had HELLP syndrome with, a severe form of preeclamsia) was born by emergency c-section at 37 weeks. The onset of this problem happened very quickly and it was extremely dangerous for both me and the baby. Out of the three babies I have had, he is the only one that needs glasses, speech therapy and OT for motor control issues. Is this because of the preelamsia? Who knows?
What I do know is that I did everything I could (which included taking a baby aspirin a day) to prevent an emergency situation again.
If your doctor says that this will help your condition, I would take it. Developing blood clots is a life threatening condition and I would not play around with it.
Good luck and congratulations of being pregnant. I hope you have a complication-free pregnancy!
