Friday nights my kids get to eat a small dessert before dinner =-)
It's a great end to a long week and it's a special something for my kids because they are so awesome!
Does anyone else have Taco Tuesday at their house? Or other weekly dinner traditions?

We usually do tacos or baked potatoes on Tuesday, but that is usually because I get home late and it is something quick and easy. Not really a tradition though.
Take-out Friday! I don't care what it is, but after working all week I don't cook on Friday- it's my husband's job to call it in and pick it up! Our family has figured this out and has started joining us for Chinese or whatever which makes it even more fun b/c our little guy has his cousins to play with and my SIL brings good wine.
Ahhh ... yes we do. i'm a single mom and this helps keep me sane!!!
here's our schedule ...
meatless monday ... some sort of fish or meatless dish (veggie lasagna, etc), mac & cheese w/tuna & broccoli is a fave too) ... sometimes just eggs & rice ... LOL
taco tuesday (which is usually actually burritos or mexi salad) (also our Boy Scout meeting night ... so meat is cooked on monday and nuked on tuesday for dinner)
pizza wednesday
soupy thursday (our other Scout night ... soups in the crock pot all day and i throw on grilled cheese when i get home ... then run to Girl Scout/Venture meeting)
apps for dinner on friday ... (yup ... this usually means nachos (w/left-over meat frozen from taco tuesday)
Saturday is never planned ... usually spaghetti if we're home and not hanging w/family ...
Sunday is usually family dinner @ my moms or homecooked cuban food if we're hanging home.
having an expectation has really been helpful for my shopping and keeping my budget in check also. Any of these meals are made with chicken, turkey or beef ... so I try to change it around so it doesn't seem the same. For example, I'll routinely swap some quick-cooking chicken tenders for ground beef on taco night. On soup night, it could be baked potato soup, chili, chicken chili, tortilla soup, or even just black beans served w/brown rice.
We always have a salad or other green veggie served with dinner. even on pizza night. The only exception is Friday. I couldn't care less what they eat that night. it's pretty much a free for all. LOL ... the funny thing, is that they love that night ... and i don't stress because it's just one day. maybe they put tomatoes and lettuce on their nachos. or maybe they don't. maybe they eat chips & dip that night. they get ONE night to do that ... and sometimes, they eat a salad that night, because they feel like it. or cereal. or even pancakes. hahahaha ...
Have fun!
Monday is cereal night. :)
We just instituted pasta Weds. I made a HUGE pot of sauce, separated it out and froze it. Then made a huge batch of meatballs and froze them too. We should be set for about 2 months for Weds dinners!
I like taco Tuesday idea too!
Yes, we do Taco Tuesday at my house. The kids love it and help make the Tacos. The ones that don't help prepare, have to do the clean-up. Preparing is way more fun than clean-up.
Taco Sunday is what we do every week :)
We look forward to taco tuesday at one of the hotels in our neighborhood and go there every tuesday for dollar tacos. It's not worth the mess to me. But when I had little ones they loved taco nights... I never did taco tuesdays though, I wish I would have thunk it back in the day.
Not yet.... But I do like this idea :-) when we were kids Every Friday night was Pizza night! From Alberto's - My father had to have his peperoni pizza once a week !! lol
Oh and Wed was ALWAYS (still is at my parents) Pasta night!!!
Take out sushi on Friday...my 4.5yr old insists upon it now.
I wish :) Our schedule changes every 3 months... so there's no way to consistently have a "night".
My son has been lobbying for Fish Stick Fridays.......
Oh we definitely have Taco Tuesday every week! We also usually eat some kind of chicken on Sunday.
My husbands family did this growing up, and I've tried to adopt some of them. They had either pasta or steak Sunday, Rice & Beans Thursday, Pizza Friday and Leftover Saturday.
Now we do burger or taco Mondays and Pizza (most) Fridays. I get sick of pizza sometimes, but we always pick up dinner even if it's not pizza. I don't cook on Fridays!
I cook Mon, Tues and Wed. Leftovers on Thurs (my bowling night). If we have the kids (every other weekend at the ex's) then we have Friday family movie night with pizza. If we dont' have the kids, hubby and I eat out. On the weekends, whether we have the kids or not, we wing it!
No-not anymore-but when I was growing up-my favorite was Friday night-burgers, hand cut fries and homemade milk shakes! On Christmas Eve-I will prepare all the children's favorite appetizers-they love this-it is a lot of work-requires every pan in the house and takes all day-but it is worth it!
I wish ours was more inventive like yours!!
Wednesday Night is Pizza Night...family night...no computers, phones, etc.
Friday night is "Boys NIGHT IN" - mommy is off for the night - I'm NOT HERE - whether I choose to go out with the girls or stay home....Hubby takes care of the kids.
