Switching to Whole Milk?

I am currently breastfeeding my daughter and feeding 1 bottle of formula per day. She also takes water from a sippy cup. She is totally ready to wean and I have no doubt she'll go cold turkey with no issues. It is a battle to get her to breastfeed lately! She has also stolen her big brother's sippy cup from time to time and drank milk from it with no problems (other than my yelling at her brother not to let her!) Anyway, she turns 1 Saturday, but due to scheduling issues, her one year check up isn't till later next week. I am thinking of just switching her to whole milk on her birthday. Is there any reason I should wait until her official check up to do this? Thanks.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone. I was 99% sure this would be OK, but wanted to make sure there wasn't something the doctors check for that I wasn't aware of.

I was at the pediatrician's office about three weeks prior to my son's first birthday and asked my doctor about this same question. He said to go ahead and try the milk. He also said that the only reason the recommendation is after one year is that insurance companies won't pay the doctors unless the one year check up offically takes place after the child's one year birthday.

I started weaning my son 2 weeks before his first birthday. He was also breastfed, with 1 bottle of formula a day. I replaced the formula bottle with milk just to see how he would do, and he did great! I never did half/half. I started replacing one feeding each week with milk until he was completely done nursing. I think it's ok to start if she's that close to 1. My son did fine with the milk, but it was so close to his birthday, and I slowly introduced the milk (mainly b/c I was more comfortable weaning that way).

I weaned my first daughter from the breast on her 1st birthday and started whole milk that day. She never had formula, so I didn't have to deal with weaning from a bottle. She took right to the milk and had no problem with a sippy cup. Her 1 year checkup was about 10 days after her birthday and her pedi said I could start her on whole milk. I told her I already had 10 days previously on her birthday and she said that was fine. I think it is fine, but you could always call the office and ask the nurse.
