Swimming at Disneyworld Outdoors in Late November/Early December???

Moms,
This is my 3rd question about this trip, sorry! So, as some of you may know, from my earlier questions, my husbands parents are taking my 4 oldest kids to Disneyworld shortly after Thanksgiving, as a gift for having to move across the country. Me and my husband originally planned to take them, but I am expecting twins that are due on December 16th, so we decided that would not be a good idea, lol. So we are staying home with our 5 month year old. (Yes, we have a 5 month year old, she is adopted.)

Anyway, my mother in law booked a room at one of the resorts in disneyworld. They have outdoor pools, and indoor pools. So, I was wondering if you moms who have any expeirience with Floridia weather know if it would be warm enough to swim in an outdoor pool in that time of year, They are going to go to several different theme parks, including some with water parks. They want to go in some of the water parks, but I am worried it might be too cold. I don't want them to get sick, because that would be too much, around the holidays, with the move and the new babies, plus 3 of my daughters are in a big dance show in December, and I wouldn;t want them to have to miss that. Do you think it would be warm enough????

Thanks, moms!! Any input would be great!!

When I lived in FL I wore wool socks, gloves, layered pants/tops in December... Because I was FREEZING.

It was 71.

That's swimsuit weather in Seattle.

Honestly, FL winters are like most places early fall or late spring. There will be a few days in the 80's, a few cooler days in the 70s. A random 'cold' day, and a random 'hot' day.

In the oh-so-frigid 70's the water is all heated.

Although, coming out of a NewEngland Winter... The kids may be sweating while the G's are stacking coats on... I'd still just let the G's use their judgement on where a day is perfect for, or too brisk, for water play.

In my experience, having been to Orlando many times over the years, there is a good chance it will be warm enough, especially if your kids are from a cold weather climate where they are not as sensitive to cold (unlike us LOL). There's a decent chance it will be relatively mild. It's actually a wonderful time to visit Orlando when the summer heat is not killer.

That being said, it's a wild card that time of year. It could also be fairly cold. We got stranded there after a hurricane (in October?) a few years back and froze our behinds off. :P We had to go to Walmart and buy sweatshirts, pants, etc.

The Disney water parks heat their pools to about 84 degrees if I'm not mistaken (not all Orlando water parks do this).

IMHO (and I'm not a health care professional of any type) - it's not the cold that makes you sick - it's the stress of travel, bad food, people from all over the world, etc. We go with our immune boosting supplements and try to get adequate rest.

Hope they all have a great time!

I live a couple hours from Orlando and I wouldn't swim outdoors in December. Of course, the past couple years I have lived here they have had colder than usual winters.

Personally I only like to swim when it's pretty hot. But my daughter will swim in any weather. However, from Dec-March it's too cold for her.

The pools at the resorts are heated.

When we went many years ago for Christmas, it got to 65 degrees at night.
Some of the out door pools are heated - swimming in them even at night was not a problem.
But getting out to go back to your room was a whole new experience in shivering!

I am also going in December (middle) and people told us to bring suits for outdoor pools. I would think the weather would be around 80 degrees (usually). So I'd bring the stuff for swimming including sunscreen and aloe!

Depends on the weather....but we went second week of December last year with pretty warm weather (jackets at night weather) and my kids swam outside in heated pool. But kids are crazy like that ;). I have heard of it snowing in December...so you just don't know. Bring the suits!

Water parks are closed at that time....as far as I remember.

Usually the two big water parks (typhoon lagoon and blizzard beach) are closed at this time of year. You should call ahead. Most of the outdoor pools are heated. They won't get sick from swimming in a heated pool if it's chilly out.

The weather here varies. Yesterday it was 81 and humid today it is 65 with a cool breeze. I would send them with swimsuits and if it feels cool to your in-laws then to just use the indoor pool. I don't know of any resorts in this area that do not have heated pools.
