SUV -- Please Make Suggestions!

I prefer all the bells and whistles like leather interior, sunroof, premium sound and keyless ignition and keyless door entry. I am interested in a 5-7 passenger SUV that has the horsepower to get up a hill but still can get decent to good fuel economy. I hate going to car dealers though and listening to a sales pitch.

But here are a few options--or make a suggestion for me.

Subaru Tribeca
Subaru Forester or Outback
Hyundai Santa Fe
Hyundai VeraCruz
Nissan Murano

I like Honda's but I don't think they have all the bells and whistles I like or it would be on my list. I know they have good resale though. I like Toyota RAV too but the same thing applies. Don't know much about the Vicenza (sp?).

TIA!

What can I do next?

We have a FX35 Infiniti. One of the best cars we ever had and we only drove Honda's before that. The fuel economy is pretty good it gets 18.8. The best thing about it we have 0% interest. This is a Crossover so it only seats 5. It has all the bells and whilstles. N. P

we are Ford all the way....love my larger V6 Explorer. I avg 20-22mpg on the hwy & 19 in the city...which is excellent for a 4wd vehicle. Got to have 4wd to make it out across the riverbank!

It is only 5 passenger, but I can also transport my large dog crate & my 2 80lb dogs....while still hauling the boat or the utility trailer! Repairs have been minimal, & we're dedicated Ford owners......been driving them for 30+ years now.

Get the VIN from one's you like and get a quote from your current insurance. It will give you a good idea of the difference in insurance premiums and they may help you decide also. Good luck.

Sorry I can't help you with the ones you listed.

We bought a Yukon Denali in 2001 and love it!! OK, probably not the best in fuel economy, only 14-15 mpg, I'm sure due to the horsepower. But I can carry 8 passengers, have leather interior, heated seats for both the front and middle seats, premium Bose sound all the way to the back, and love, love, love my sunroof! Do have keyless entry but not keyless ignition. And something as seeming simple as a console that opens 2 ways, I like. There is a little 'tray' area for lack of a better term that opens with one button where I keep smaller things. And a bigger console that opens with a different button and locks. I've locked my wallet and other things in it at football games etc.

I certainly would buy another Denali, or even just a Yukon in a heartbeat. But this one still looks and runs decent with 125,000+ miles.

Good Luck and keep us posted. I may be persuaded to change my mind for future buying. ;)

Yeah I was trying to think if the upgrade of my CRV had all the bells and whistles. The only thing it didn't have mind you was the keyless ignition but at least to me that isn't the big selling point. I know a few people that have it and they are like meh.

I also have the 2010 Honda Pilot Touring and love it. It has everything the Tribeca, VeraCruz have. I think it is bigger than the Tribeca and VeraCruz. I have everything listed below and added remote start because we live in Phoenix and I wanted the car to be cool when I put my kids in. Not sure what 'bells and whistles' you want, but it is a very (VERY) nice vehicle. I get compliments when I give people rides. Just saying... I also test drove the VeraCruz and Tribeca. In the tribeca to fit 7, 2 will need to be kids. The 3rd row is very small. The VeraCruz did not seem to have as much pick up as the Honda.

Have fun, go test drive. Best way to see what you want.

Don't get an H2- the gas is insane!! I get like 11 mpg, I feel like it costs 20$ to leave the driveway! . . other than that issue it's a great SUV, and in 6 yrs I have never had 1 problem with it- but the gas is crazy to me so I don't recommend it! My mom just got a terrain and loves it- it gets like 34mpg's I think, and backup camera is standard- which I love! Sister has a newer Jeep cherokee, but has had so many issues with it- everything from the sunroof and the alarm, to the engine- I know she would not recommend it b/c of all the issues she's had- other sister has a envoy and she likes it, decent gas and no issues, good room also! -- have you looked at the FJ cruisers? I love them, but only 2 door (may be a downfall if you're needing 5-7seats)- Saw you like Honda- I have a friend who has a pilot and loves it! She says it's good gas and reliable, Good luck on your choice! I'm with you on the sales pitch, no fun! Have you checked out consumer reports?

I have a 2010 Honda Pilot touring model and I LOVE IT. I have navigation, sunroof, leather/heated seats, outlet plugs in the center console. Everything's electronic with a lot of cool features. It has a 3rd row so it can seat up to 8 people.

I will second the recommendation for the Buick Enclave and add a recommendation for the Buick Rendevzous. I own the Rendevzous, they are very affordable because they stopped making them a couple of years ago. The fully loaded versions have keyless entry, heated seats, driver/passenger/ limited middle seat climate control, curb tilt side mirror, auto lights, speed variable volume, rear radio access via headphones, dvd player and so on. they can seat 7 or 8 depending on model. They get about 19-20 mpg in town, and are definitely not lacking for get up and go. My husband recently test drove a new charger and was surprised to find that our Buick has much better acceleration. The only issue I've found with this car is lack of cargo space when using all three rows of seats.

My Honda Pilot has all the bells and whistles you described and I love it! I have a friend who just bought a Tribeca and likes it. I dont think it looked roomy enough for me, but looks decent.
Go out and test drive all of them. Take your time. Just tell the dealers you are just looking, they really arent that annoying.

You sound like me! I love me a luxurious ride. I was looking at a Kia Sorrento because it was so dang cute, but by the time I found one with all the extras I wanted on it, the price was well into the mid $30,000 range! It was like that with many of the SUV's I was looking at. I ended up leasing a bmw 325i for the same price. It was an entry-level sedan, but everything that I wanted on the Kia was standard on the BMW. After that I had two different X3's (their smaller suv-seated up to 5 people). One I leased and the other I owned. Loved all three of those cars and BMW service is impeccable.
Honda is a great brand. They were my car of choice for many years. Very dependable, great reputation and great resale. If you don't think they have something you'll like, go to Lexus. That is their luxury brand. You would be surprised how many of the luxury/high performance cars (bmw, volvo, audi, infiniti, and mercedes) you can find for a good price compared to some of the "economy" car brands, especially if you are willing to look at gently used cars. You can score some great deals that way too. I hate going to car dealers too, so find a relative or friend that you trust and is good at negotiating deals. My brother and my husband is really good at it. My mom was too. I just didn't have it in me to "dicker" with sales people. Yuck! Good luck!

are those the only one's you would consider? I would reccommend the GMC Acadia or th Buick Encleave they come with all ther bells andwhistles even with back up camera, navigation they both have tow package so can definately pull... Just got through driving an Encleave for a week very roomy, seats were comfy my mothrer rode in it liked it so much she just bought one on Monday.. My husband likes it alot (cause it definately gets up & goes when you step on gas) that he is talking about trading in his silverado pickup.. The acadia is exactly the same just a GMC... they both have 7 seats.. good luck

Honda Pilot -
comes with an optional leather interior, bells and whistles, Seats up to 8 with folding 3rd and 2nd row seats. Mine has a variable 6 so at cruising highway speeds it runs as 4 cylinder so the gas mileage is good.

I bought a used 2005 a couple of years ago and simply love it. It may be last vehicle I ever buy :P
