Summit International Preparatory in Arlington

I am hoping that someone has information about the Summit International School on Arlington. I am looking into it for my daughter. She is currently attending a Montessori School for pre-school/daycare and is doing very well. She is already reading and writing at a first grade level and doing single digit addition and subtraction. Unfortunately, private school is just not in the cards for us, financially. Neither is home schooling. I am unimpressed with the public Kindergarten curriculum and would really rather avoid going directly into 1st grade for social reasons. So I am checking out local charter schools as an option.I was wondering what anyone has heard/experienced with Summit or any other Arlington charter school.
Thanks a Bunch.

My daughter goes to Country Day School Pre-school which is part of the Summit Prep campus. I see the kids all the time and while I don't have any first hand experience with the school itself, the kids always are well behaved and in their uniforms. The teachers are everywhere interacting with the kids. They do a lot of their teaching in untraditional environments around the campus. We are considering enrolling our daughter there when the time comes. I suggest calling and taking a tour.

My son attends Summit and it is the most wonderful school. We absolutely LOVE it. The campus is wonderful, the teachers are AMAZING, and they truly support the children while maintaining high expectations. I cannot say enough good things about this school. We had issues with the public school that he was at and have had him at two private schools (we finally found a school that we loved when he got in to Summit). I was very apprehensive about how this school would work out, but they have COMPLETELY won me over.

I teach 1st grade at Arlington Classics Academy, a charter school. It's wonderful! My son will be attending kindergarten there next year. We start enrollment for next year soon (February or March). You can see our website at www.arlingtonclassics.org You can also call the school to arrange a tour. Good luck!

I would HIGHLY suggest Arlington Classics Academy. My youngest sister is in Kindergarten there this year, and we have NO REGRETS!

This is the first year Summit International has been open, so unfortunately there is not a lot to go by. It used to be Arlington Country Day. I do know that they require longer school days as the children get older, Saturday school, etc. I would only be leery because of the lack of track record. Touring it may prove me VERY wrong.

Also, stay away from Metro Charter Academy. WHAT A MESS!

I beleive this school is going to have a lottery drawing for admittance into the Summit Prep. I recently took a tour for The Montesorri Program, and Ms. Joyce informed of this, so you may want to call and check on that.
