Does anyone know of any great camps for a preschooler? Preferably in the Maplewood, Woodbury, St. Paul areas. Something that my four year old could do for just a week or two in the summer. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Abrakadoodle Art Education (www.abrakadoodle.com) offers half day camps for preschoolers (ages 3-5) in both Woodbury and St. Paul. The camps are generally 2 hours per day, Monday through Thursday, for just one week and are affordably priced. At camp, kids do two art projects per day, listen to stories and play games. They are tons of fun!

We've had great luck with the summer camps at the science museum. They start at age 4. I think the children's museum may also offer camps.

There is a soccer camp that starts at age 4 my son absolutely loved at that age. And it tired them out too! Very fun format. It's also in St. Paul

Both Maplewood Community Center and Lifetime Fitness in Woodbury have summer programs for preschoolers. I believe they are drop-in, but you'll have to call to find out.

My son liked the Science Museum camps at that age. It's a bit of a drive, but he also liked the camps at the Zoo in Apple Valley. I think Como Zoo has camps also. If he likes the outdoors the various YMCAs offer a program for his age called Wee Backpackers. They do typical outdoor camp stuff and come home dirty and tired.

Hi C.. This is unfortunately not in your area, but you may consider it - or other Mom's may find the information useful. My daughter goes to a Montessori school in the Burnsville area. It is a truly amazing place. (Takes children from 2.5 through 2nd grade. They are going to keep growing until it is a full elementary school. Next year they are going to take children from 16 months. It is open from 7:00am to 5:30pm. It is a school, not a daycare, but they try to accommodate working parents.)They have school through the entire summer. You may enroll for the summer, or else for a week at a time. Their name is Cyprus Classical Montessori and their website address is: www.CyprusSchool.com. If anyone has any questions, feel free to contact me. I love sharing information about this school. We are so lucky to have found it. My daughter begs to go to school on the weekend and insisted on being signed up for the summer, even though I am a SAHM. Good Luck in your search.

Last summer, my then four year old daughter went to two camps through the Maplewood Community Center. They were three hours long each day for a week. One had an art theme and one had a science theme. She had a great time. It was close to our house and only part of the day so she could still have time for naps in the afternoon. We will probably send her there again this summer.
