I have seen great results on others who have had the Brazilian...I don't think that there is anything that is not temporary!
Hi ladies,
I want to get my hair relaxed, because it is frizzy and untamed. I can straighten it if I blow dry and then run a straightener through it, but I would love to do a chemical treatment. I don't know what's available, and I would love to hear from ladies that have actually had this done. I am not going with the Chi because it's so expensive, even at the beauty school, and I don't want the brazilian blow out because it is only a temporary fix. Any suggestion on products that won't turn my hair into "mush" will be great. Thanks!

FHI makes amazing flat irons!! Look on ebay might be able to find one alittle cheaper!
Chi striaghtener and products are awsome i love to use them i wouldnt use anything other!! Belive me youll like it and the flat iron comes in so many designs and colors.
I have heard of a new hair treatment for getting hair straightened. It is called a Brazilian Blowout and is fairly expensive (which is why my hair is still curly lol). Call and ask around, I have heard its great.
If you need just a regular flat iron though, I recomment the Remington Wet-to-straight hair straightener. I have used it for 4 years (needed one replacement because the first one was stolen) and I love it. There are different temps, and different settings for whether your hair is wet or dry.
Good luck!
I did not buy a Chi. Just cannot justify $100 for a hair tool. Got mine at JC Penney Salon and they assured me I'd be back for a Chi. (Actually my DH bought me a Chi & I returned it--ridiculous price!) That was about 4 years ago and my cheapie is still working fine. I do use the Chi, Infrared Heat Protector serum though--really great stuff.
I have a short hair style I do like the CHI but I have Remington from Target for $20.00 & Conair mini works great..
Save up and get the CHI... It changed my life, and there is no straightener like it! Believe me, I've tried them all.
I really want a Chi, but it is just too expensive for me. My hairstylist recommended that I go to the Sally Beauty store and buy their brand straightener that is about $40. She said it is almost as good as the Chi. So that is what I plan on doing pretty soon!
Get a Chi! I bought mine at TJ Max for $40. Super cheap and it works awesome!!
Oh, the grass always greener on the other side! I always wanted curly hair. Any "fix" is only going to be temporary however. If you get it chemically straightened, it'll still grow back curly. I've heard about the Brazilian Blow Out, but what it made news for was having very high levels of formaldehyde which was making some stylists sick from using it. It's certainly not the kind of product I would want to use. Have you thought of just occasionally straightening your hair and otherwise using a good frizz-easer to make your hair still curly, but not wild?
Sorry to be the only one who's not really answering the question. Good luck with your quest. If only it was easier!
My hair sounds just like yours! I postponed getting a chi because I was too cheap, but then I just bit the bullet and it makes such a difference! I love it. Then a few months ago I got the keratin complex treatment, much like the brazilian and while it's only temporary I will definitely be doing these 2 times a year for the rest of my life. For the first time ever, I love my hair. Seriously, my hair is fabulous now. You wouldn't regret it even if it is temporary. So worth every last $$$. Plus, I rarely need my straightener anymore. I usually just use it to straighten kinks out and my drying time was cut to over 10 minutes to about 4. Amazing. Anyway, that's my 2 cents.
Hair is fashionable straight right now. My cousin once tried to straighten my hair and it curled up again in an hour.
I have frizzy, curly hair. I used to braid it and in a few hours all the funny hairs had worked their way loose. Here is the wisdom borne of accepting yourself for who you are.
I get my hair cut by people who know how to cut curly hair. I no longer color, straighten or mess with mousse. No spray will stay in curly hair it only stinks.
With a good cut I have wash and wear hair. What a blessing to wash it without even have to comb it until hours later.
Ethnically we are not all the same. Enjoy the hair you have...at least it is still good strong hair.
