Suddenly Not Sleeping Through the Night, Rolling over in Bed

My 7 month old daughter has always been an excellent night time sleeper. 2 weeks ago she started waking up at 1am ans then 4:30 to 5am. She used to sleep until 7am. I'll go to check on her and she has rolled onto her tummy. I'm not concerned about SIDS anymore because she's very mobile, but she refuses to sleep on her belly. To her belly is playtime. I tried putting a wedge down but she just rolls right over it or else manages to roll in place (I'm a little proud of this but wish she'd stop). She's exhausted, eye rubbing, yawning but won't go back to sleep. Rolling her back over seems to fix her problem at 1am. but in the morning as soon as I leave the room she just rolls right back over again. She's so tired it messes up her whole day. All her naps are thrown out of whack and she's exhausted and ready for bed by 6 or 7pm instead of her normal 8. I tried putting her down at 6 or 7 and it just makes her more awake at 5am. Her eyes are red all day and a little swollen and she doesn't nap well. She's not the only one who's exhausted. I feel like I'm going to fall over and I'm nodding off all the time. I've started going to bed early but no matter how early I go to bed always end up not sleeping until around 11. This morning I was so fed up and exhausted that I brought her to my bed. Well, she slept more after 15 minutes of struggling, but I have no idea how people share a bed with their kids. So uncomfortable! I didn't sleep at all.

Just a note I tried "ferberizing" my baby in the past. It doesn't work because she's a 3 alarm cryer. Meaning if she starts to cry she goes into full out screaming very quickly and will cry until she gets some loving. Instead I'm trying to use E.A.S.Y.

I'm so lost and at my wits end. I was hoping this would be a phase but it seems to be holding strong. Any ideas on what I can do to get my baby back on a normal schedule?

Added - She's not screaming but if I don't flip her over right away she wakes up all the way and won't go back to sleep.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

It took 2 months but she's finally sleeping through the night again. She finally got used to sleeping on her stomach :-)

D.,
What about the Nap Nanny? (Look it up online if you have never heard of it). There is no way she could flip over on that thing!! It would keep her safe, cozy and on her back the entire night. Just a thought.

would it help to put her to sleep on her tummy? My daughter was a tummy sleeper from the time she could roll over, maybe it would help your daughter to start out on her tummy. Good luck, any major milestone like this is a tough time for sleeping.

This sounds pretty normal to me for when a child starts to roll over in the night. It probably won't stop until she either learns to sleep on her belly or roll herself back. When they are sleeping and they roll themselves onto their belly they have a hard time rolling back because they are asleep and it takes a lot of effort for them to do that. Is she screaming when she rolls onto her stomach? If she's just fussing I would give her 15-20 minutes to see if she either puts herself back to sleep or rolls back over. Just one of those stages you have to push through.

I agree with Margaret wrote. My 2 boys were both stomach sleepers so I was very surprised when my baby girl loved to sleep on her back. She was always a great sleeper, but woke during the night when she rolled to her belly as well and I would go in and roll her back over. I guess she ended up deciding that she likes her belly better because by 8 months, she would start off on her side and eventually roll to her belly for the rest of the night. However, now we're at the teething stage and our great nights of sleep are a thing of the past!
