If drumming up business means that there would be more days like this, I'd run for the hills and think about a change of careers :-)
Here's to peace and serenity!
Have you ever had one of those days when it seems like nothing is going right?
Mine is today. I went looking for a bruleé torch so I could finish my S'mores cupcakes. I couldn't find one anywhere! I would have driven all the way to Williams Sonoma, but I had a ton of cupcakes to finish. I remembered that I have a lighter that is a torch, so I thought I would try one using that to see how it turned out.
So I get home and get started on the cupcakes I'm giving away over the next 24 hours. (Trying to drum up business.) I'm taking half of them to hubby's work tonight for the third shift guys (the guys he used to work with) and then the other half were going to work with hubby in the morning. So after I get the 200+ cupcakes baked and cooling, I frost the Irish Carbombs and get them boxed. I get everything together to make the pastry cream for the Boston Cream Pie Cupcakes and hubby texts. A lot of the guys he works with directly are going to Austin for a meeting (he doesn't need to be there) so he's going to work from home tomorrow. So slow down the cupcake factory. Ok, I can handle that, I had Tiramisu, S'mores, Margarita and Amaretto Sour cupcakes left to bake. So I just won't bake those. Instead I'll just take all the cupcakes I've already made to the third shifters.
I get ready to make the pastry cream and I drop one of the eggs down the sink. No worries, I have other eggs. I get everything together and started. I boil the milk, beat the egg yolks, temper the eggs...everything is looking great! I transfer everything back to the pot to boil and let it thicken. The phone rings. I run to answer it. When I get back to the stove my eggs had curdled. (Stupid telemarketer!)
Ugh, now I'm frustrated. I realized I have no more eggs...I don't know what I'm going to do. Hubby just home from work and asked what is for dinner. He's two seconds away from getting the scrambled egg soup on the stove.
Anyone else having a "Calgon take me away!" kinda day?
So hubby pulled out my foot spa that the kids gave me for Christmas. He filled it with water and set it on the floor in front of me. He said to rest there with my feet in bubbling water until he got home. He then rounded up all four of the kids, and walked out the front door. When he came back about an hour later, my feet were relaxed (I had pulled them out and painted my toenails. It's the only polish I'm allowed to wear with my school!) and hubby had eggs AND dinner! Poor guy didn't even know what hit him when I just complained about the day! He knows how to make me feel better!
After I ate, I made the pastry cream (it came out perfect!) and finished the cupcakes. I got them all boxed up and we dropped them off at his work. I've gotten so many emails and a few "Likes" on Facebook because of them. So glad it drummed up some business! (No orders yet, but I'm getting there.)
Oh, and I'm sorry I made y'all hungry with my cupcakes! Baking is my passion and I'm so happy to come up with new recipes. I'll take a bad day of baking over a good day at any other job!
*hugs*
Y'all are the best! I hope those of you who were having bad days were able to turn it around. Like my close friend told me, "Just remember, you get a whole new day tomorrow. It's a second chance to have a great day. And you know what's better? You get a new chance every 24 hours!"

OMG, get take out for dinner.
Tell your Husband to pick it up... you are just too way busy!
And, too much to keep track of.
Tell him to pick up more eggs too.
I know you're having a bad day and you have my sympathies for that...but, OMG, your post had me salivating! Brulee? Smores? Pastry Cream? MARGARITA...CUPCAKES?! Seriously, I'm drooling here...
I have no idea what you said, but I'm really, really hungry for cupcakes now.
;)
Tell hubby you're having for dinner whatever HE wants to make and then go take a Calgon bath!
The one good thing about life is that you get to start over every day. Tomorrow will be better, I'm sure.
Not having one of those days today, but they certainly happen often enough! Your cupcake flavors sound delicious! Wish I was close enough to try them!
LOL Feed him the soup! Yes I am, my daughter has apparently been possessed by some sort of demon that can only say contradictory things. Example:
Her: I'm hungry
Me: Ok let's get something to eat
Her: I want peaches please.
Me: Ok (me getting them)
Her: NO! I don't want peaches.
Me Ok...well what do you what
Her: Peaches.
Then the three hour fight for her to take a nap (which didn't happen)
She painted all over her hands, arms, and face while I was in the bathroom.
Threw a 30 hour temper tantrum (SO rare for her)
Seriously, I have a ton of patience and rarely lose it. Today after the thirteenth time she cam out of her room crying, after I put her back I went to my room and slammed my fist against the wall. Now I have a huge bruise. I told my husband and he tells me I should get out for a while, yet he is acting like it such a huge deal and he is just completely sacrificing himself so I probably won't go just so I don't have to deal with the martyr.
Yes. A Calgon day indeed..
Jennifer you hav sparked my interest in ordering!! I live in New Braunfels and I have two birthdays coming up for my kids. They are not little ones any longer so I think cool cupcakes would be awesome.
Where are you in SA?
