Stroller/jogging Stroller Question

I am looking for feedback regarding a stroller that has a turning front wheel (looks like a jogging stroller that also has the car seat attachment). This is nice, because it isn't like the standard jogging stroller because it does seem more maneuverable. It would be more convenient to be able to use my everyday stroller as a jogging stroller. I could always get a standard stroller and purchase a second-hand three-wheeler, but if anyone has used the three-wheeler for everyday use and has an opinion, I would love to hear it.

What can I do next?

The only setback I can think of with the car seat that removes from the stroller is that your child is going to grow out of that car seat rather quickly. Car seats are very heavy to carry and move around. They do not fold down for easy transfer or storage. If you have the cash to buy multiple strollers, perhaps you would like obtaining multiple products to serve different needs.

I would fold my jogging stroller down, remove the wheels and put groceries right on top of the folded down stroller. It didn't take up as much room in a car trunk or a SUV... not as much as a regular stroller. I wouldn't put items on top of a regular stroller in fear that the plastic pieces would bend or break. But, the jogging stroller has strudy metal rods for support. The seating is canvas, which cannot be broken. Plus, the canvas seating is to easy to clean. Taking a part the car seat always seems like a hassle to remove all those small little pieces, the straps, and then you have to put it all back together. Heck... you have a half hour just trying to put it back together and install it back into the car.

I have used my three wheeler jogging stroller for everyday use. I did use it for several years as there are only 1 year and 3 months between my boys. I loved it. It was very convenient. Removable wheels. Folded down. Under seat carrier. Cup holders. Hand and foot brake. I could put my purse, kids' diaper bag, and water bottle all into the carrier. It was very light weight, easy to push when walking or jogging. Because it folded down and wheels came off, I could take it down and put it below the coats in the hall closet at my house or when visiting others.

The funny thing is the kids liked it so much they would take it out and want to sit in it while watching their cartoons. They would curl up with their blankey, sippy cup and hang out together. It was too cute.

Since it was easy to get them into and out of, I would often take them out after dinner to run around the block. Sometimes the motion would calm them down out of fits or bickering enough to go to sleep and for afternoon naps. Although they look bulky, mine wasn't really that heavy at all. A lot of the maneuverability and feeling of weight (outside of actual weight) comes from the suspension, turning and adjustable front wheel and having larger rubber wheels for jogging instead of the small traditional plastic wheels.

I liked my jogging stroller better than the traditional stadium seated stroller. I hardly ever used the traditional stroller over my jogging stroller. It was so much harder to turn, less comfortable for the kids with no suspension or cushion with plastic wheels, less storage. It felt heavier because it was harder to maneuver, and my arms got tired much faster when trying to push it. I could push my jogging stroller for hours, run or walk, without any real tension in the forearms, shoulders or upper back.

In fact, you could try out the jogging stroller and see what you really think. Koehlinger Fitness and Summit City Fitness (bicycle and exercise equipment companies) carry some double strollers... the last I checked. They let you take their items out into the parking lot to test them.

Congrats on the new upcoming addition to your family! We love our "Baby Jogger" City Mini. It's like a full size jogger, but a bit smaller... three wheels. What I really love is how quickly and easily it folds up! Check out the baby jogger website and they have a video on there showing the one hand fold.
Good luck!

I have a jogger by Baby Trends, THe Expedition. I love it. We use it as a regular stroller. The front wheel can be locked in the straight position or can swivel. It is alittle bulky for somethings, but it is so easy to push and he loves to sit it in. We had a Jeep stroller before and it was nice, but this is AWESOME! We bought the Expedition at Kmart on a clearance. I was also looking at the 2nd hand stores for the jogger when we found that. You might be surprised what you can find on clearance at stores.

My older son is involved in many sports and we definitely got our money's worth out of if last year alone.

hi M.! we had a similar dilema and didn't want to have to purchase an extra stroller so we ended up getting the baby trend system. it came with the car seat and jogger, the seat snaps right into place. we love it so far, but haven't had too many opportunites to use it seeing as how the weather has been so bad! the front wheel can move or you can lock it into place, it folds up easy, and it'll be nice to use it when our baby doesn't need the car seat any more. good luck! :)

Hey M.,

We bought a double Bob stroller. They are expensive, but well worth it. I don't think that we would have survived Disney World last year without it. The single version sounds great for you. It won't fold down as small as an umbrella stroller, but taking it across varied terrain should be a breeze. I can steer my double stroller w/ 1 hand (on sidewalks/flat surface) and over 65#'s of kids in it.(will hold up to 100 #). I love it.

Good Luck!
K.

Hi M. -- I've used a jogging stroller as our only stroller and I love it! It is so easy to maneuver, take up and down off curbs, go over grassy areas. And, yes, if you're looking at one that can have the car seat attach that would seem ideal.

We have a Baby Trends... not sure the model. It's a snap to fold up... but a bit bulky when folded.

Congratulations on your pregnancy and have fun on this new adventure in life... . Two of my friends have the Jeep jogging stroller with the turning front wheels and the attachable toy on the front tray and they both love their strollers. I have a Trevi stroller which is a light weight stroller that folds up like an umbrella stroller with all the conveniences of a heavy stroller. What I like about my friends' stroller is that it is very, very easy to maneuver and the basket underneath the stroller is huge. The toy also makes for a good distraction at times. The kids seem to be comfi in it. The shocks are great on it and since the wheels are inflatable, the ride is smooth even on rough terrains. The only thing I don't like is that it is so heavy. Neither of my friends uses their stroller for jogging. Before I had my son, I did extensive research and this particular stroller did not get very good reviews which may have changed in the last 2 years. (That's why I didn't get it). Knowing what I know now about that stroller, I would buy it for my son and get a more compact stroller for traveling.
