Stroller Ideas for a Newborn and a 2 Year Old.

Hello all,
I have a baby on the way - and an active almost 2 year old. Our 2 year old had a travel system (carseat, stroller) when he was an infant so we already have an infant car seat. My dilemma is finding a double stroller that will hold my newborn and an active 2 year old.
I'm sure this is an age-old question that most of you have already figured out - but I need help!

Thanks!

I have the exact same dilemma. My one will be 2 when the other arrives this summer. I was thinking baby bjorn (or other front carrier) and a leash or stroller I already use. So far the double ones seem to expensive and bulky to me. There are used kid stores around town though. I like that idea of getting two umbrella strollers and connecting them.

Another helpful tool is what some people call a leash. I am not sure if that is the correct term. I have a little monkey that buckles around my daughter's torso and the tail has a place to slip around my wrist as I push my youngest in the stroller. People can say what they want, but it allows my child to be SAFE. Especially in parking lots and high traffic areas. It took a little bit for her to get used to it, and for me too, but now that we have learned how to move together it is priceless to me. She gets a little independence, but close independence :)

My answer is combo from what others said. My kids were 15 months apart & while I wanted a Sit and Stand, they were too expensive for my blood. We used a Graco Duo stroller (tandem) and it worked great (bought one used on Craiglist)!

We only kept up with that though until my daughter was 1 yr old. Then we switched to 2 umbrella strollers with these little connector clips you get at Babies R Us or WalMart. That way if only one needed to be in the stroller, we had that option. Plus it took up a LOT less room in the trunk.

Good luck! Hope you find something that works for you!

BOB dualie. You would be able to use your car seat you already have with the adaptor. It is a side by side but fits through a standard door. Wonderful, we love ours!

sit and stand!!! the back seat (where the older child can sit or stand) does have a belt to strap them in. It also has a universal bar for holding the infant seat.
I think you will get much more use out of one of those, because an older child will still get on. I can't imagine my 4 year old in a regular double stroller. My kids are 15 months apart, and I got it around my oldest's second birthday... we still use it today (not all the time, but whenever we are going somewhere she may want to ride).. and she will be 5 tomorrow.
i got mine at Target for $120.

I love my Phil and Teds double stroller. It is expensive, But it is a single stroller frame that you can add or take off a second seat to. So It is by far the smallest most easily maneuverable double stroller out their. And it works through all stages, it can recline so your new born can lay flat, it can be a double or single depending on what you want that time, and it is all terrain so it is great for excising while still being small enough to take shopping. It is the kind that moves and changes with your family so you will only need to buy one stroller. And as I started with I love it.

Plus I have a Ergo baby carrier for when I want to wear one of them and that is fabulous too. Supper comfy and I can switch between my baby and 3 yr old in it still.

I LOVE my city mini double stroller by baby jogger. It's pretty light compared to most of the double strollers, folds up small and easy, and fits through a standard doorway. My son was 28 months when my second son was born and he was and still is VERY active. I knew the sit and stand wouldn't work for me b/c he needed to be strapped into a stroller. I did two things to make this stroller work for me. First, I bought a car seat replacement clip and added it to the stroller harness so it created a 5-point harness for my 2 year old--otherwise he was squirming out of the straps. Second, I purchased the belly bar. This was a lot cheaper than the car seat adapter and works great for strolling around stores (I wouldn't suggest jogging with it like that). I secure my youngest son's car seat to the stroller/belly bar by pulling the straps up from the back of the stroller seat and wrapping them into the seatbelt grooves of the car seat. Make sure the stroller straps are tight and the car seat stays in place. The other thing I do is put a kidopotamus snuggli in the baby's seat and he can lay down or sit up very comfortably. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I searched high and low for the right double stroller and I'm really happy with my purchase. You can check out the stroller at www.babyjogger.com. Congratulations on your growing family and good luck!

I have a newborn and a 3 1/2 year old and I broke down and bought the sit n' stand stroller and LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My daughter can stand on the platform or sit on her bench by me and the infant carrier can strap on to the front and then convert to a seat with a tray when he is older. It was definitely worth the $125.00. I found it at Babies 'r' Us.

try the tandem double stroller from onestepahead.com. it's great and it's reasonable. the back seat can come out for your toddler to stand up or sit on the jumpseat. or leave it in for now and they can face each other. this was important to me because i wanted it for entertainment and so the baby could see me too. it's very light the basket underneath is a little small but what stroller has a big one. my daughter is tall and her feet hang in the basket a little when she's in the back right now but all in all i love it
