Was he angry with you in anyway when he did it? My son did that one time (when he was 5) but he was really mad about something so did it out of anger. We had him clean it up and he never did it again.
Good Luck with this.
Hi Mom's,
This is a really strange question. Has anyone ever caught their child peeing on purpose outside the bathroom? My son was getting changed for bed and I walked in and he was standing there peeing in his closet. He stopped as soon as I walked in and I told him to go to the bathroom which he did and he finished peeing there. Not sure why he was doing this. He has been potty trained since he was 2 1/2. I asked him why and he said he didn't know why.

I think it is totally normal. A little talk may help. (I'm sure his 5 yr. old little mind wasn't thinking about all the consequences for Mommy! LOL It was probably just a really curious thing to do!!) My husband laughs now about being lazy about using the bathroom when he was about that age. He would go in the hamper. :) Somehow, I think we're going to look back at these years with longing hearts and miss it all terribly!
My little boy is 5years old and as well i couldn't figure out where the urine smell from his room was coming from...He kept saying mom i think the dog is peeing under my bed until one day i caught him with his pants down under the bed peeing..Needless to say i was so angry spanked his hiny and scrubbed the carpet half with carpet steamer half mean green carpets beautiful and he hasen't done it since...My mother says my brother used to do that...good luck

I remember when I was a kid, a few of us would be at O. friend's house and her little brother (probably about 5) would chase us into the closet and pee at or on us! :) Not so funny then LOL
My son is now 5 and he loves to pee outside, weird places, etc. Probably no big deal just little guys discovering the body part they will play with their whole lives!
Good luck. I'm sure it will pass.
I totally agree that he should help clean it up. He's probably just being a curious boy - like what happens if I pee in the closet? I wouldn't make too much out of it - if he sees he can get a rise out of you, he may try it again!
Good luck to you!

This is not strange at all. One of my friend's sons was 5 last year and she kept smelling urine throughout the house and learned that he was doing the same thing. My son is 4 (soon to be 5) and sometimes pees on his bed or the floor when he gets very angry. I let him know that this is not acceptable behavior. He usually has to go to timeout, miss his favorite TV show, or not play with his toys when he does this. The behavior seems to be subsiding.
