I need a way to store all the stuff for my kids that I can't bear to get rid of. My mom is a self-proclaimed "sentimental pack rat" and I get it from her. She kept all of my brother's & my artwork, report cards, lost teeth, brochures from field trips, awards & trophies, anything you can think of from our entire childhood. As a kid, I loved going through it every year or so, it made me feel so special. Now I want to do the same for my kids, but I need a safe way to store all of this stuff so it won't get damaged. I have things from when they were born, like hospital bracelets, footprints, etc. I have a lock of hair from the first haircut in a fancy keepsake box. I have the tshirt & candle from my son's 1st birthday party. What on earth can I do with all of this! I don't want to just throw it all in a storage crate. Help!

I've got to say, I just don't know about the teeth.
However, regarding artwork, report cards...flat things scan very nicely. What I do is scan my childrens treasures, and save them in a file. I organize it by year, add some pictures and text and then make digital scrapbooks that I have printed and give to grandparents as Christmas gifts each year. I have shelves in my home devoted to these books only, and my kids will occasionally look through them and feel very special too. Check out the digital photo center on Walmart's website. Mixbook and blurb.com are both also good choices. You can always find online coupons too.

You are the anti-me! LOL
I am constantly trying to eliminate stuff but I do keep a flat-style bin for each school year.
As for the teeth--my son always writes a note to the Tooth Fairy asking if he can keep the teeth because "he collects them" -- so you see what I'm up against! haha
I often ask if he is going to make a necklace for his wife from them someday.

I have my daughter's things in a rubbermaid tote - but it's a jumble and hard to keep separated by year etc... Another mother just told me that she had binders with page protectors in it, and she just slips the art, report card, etc down in the page protector - and it's easy if you do it regularly - then it's easy to keep in chronological order. Good luck!

you can get tissue paper to wrap the stuff in and get a foot locker and put the name of the child that it is on it
