A lot of it is mental.
You have to just tell yourself, that you will not die if you don't smoke.
But you will if you keep smoking.
I used to smoke. Then I gradually cut down on the frequency. Then it got to the point where I realized I didn't even need it and I could go longer periods without it. So what about the chemical dependency. MOST of it is mental. Taking control of the feelings about it and just "convincing" yourself you don't need it.
For me, it was all a mental thing.
And NOT substituting smoking with eating.
That is also a mental thing.
Most things I quit, I did so, just by tweaking my mental attitude about it.
I just psyched myself out, of it.
I used to do other things. And stopped cold turkey.
And actually, PMS'ing is a lot worse, than stopping smoking.
ONE tip though: do not try and quit, when you are PMS'ing or having your period. WRONG timing. Your body then is more hormonal. So choose another time, to quit.
It is also about timing.
And tell your other family, DO NOT smoke around you. ONLY go outside. Make a rule.
Think of other things to do... crochet, read, garden etc.
Oh and also, I now am a real coffee drinker.
LOL
