Hi N.,
Sorry for the late response but I heard on Oprah from Dr. OZ to soke his feet in tea. I guess it takes out toxins! Good luck! J.
I was just wondering if there is anything my mom can do, my nephew has the stinkiest feet. They have tried powders, odor eaters, special socks, new shoes constantly, all that stuff. He is 11 years old. Its just awful. Any suggestions would help she'll try anything.
Hi N.,

Several of my nephews have tried the tea mentioned below. Here is a link to the directions http://orthoinfo.aaos.org/topic.cfm?topic=A00171
Note that this link also mentions that consistent bad odor may be a sign of a low grade infection. It may be worth mentioning to the doctor.
I was also surprised at the advice to alternate shoes every other day so that they have a change to dry out/air out.
Good luck!
Okay. I just saw this on Oprah--the same issue, but it was a college aged girl. Anyway. Dr. Oz said soak the feet in tea--make up a big batch of iced tea (but it doesn't have to cold at all) and soak them for 15 mins. about 3-4 times a week. And after a week of this type of treatment, the smell is supposed to be gone...or at least WAY better.
Hello. All you need to do is put some milk of magnesia on a cotton ball and rub on his feet. Let it dry and that will neutralize the odor. It works as deodorant also for people
who get rashes from regular deodorant. Good luck.

also to add to the previous reply, make sure to use 100%cotton socks. They allow the feet to breathe the most (along with the breathable shoes).
I've told many a teen age mom about this little secret.
Shaklee Alfalfa does the trick and helps their breath at the same time. There a lot of side benefits to taking some tablets on a daily basis. Your nephew will thank you because he is surely embarassed when everyone makes fun of the stink, I know my son felt very bad. The Shaklee Alfafa did the trick.
I thought I just read about using baking soda for foot odor. If I can come across it again I'll repost.
I assume his feet sweat which cause them to stink. Try using an anti perspirant/deodorant on the feet.
soaking feet in warm water with salt helps, it really does...
When I was watching Oprah the other day she had on Dr. Oz and they had this question and I listened up cuz my fiance has the same problem! He said you take tea bags and make like you would ice tea (but of course make it warmer than that) and soak your feet in it. It will harden the sole of your feet and make the pores smaller which is what causes the odor to escape more. I'm gonna try it this weekend!
Hey N.,
I've read that soaking feet in water with regular tea bags (not herbal tea)can help. There is an ingredient in tea, tannic acid that stops feet from sweating, temporarily. Dry feet don't smell so it's important to keep feet dry. Make sure the shoes aren't a man made material, have to be leather or canvas. Hope this helps.

I don't know if they have tried this one yet or not, but my husband has the same problem and we found a miracle product for him in the Body Shop's Peppermint Foot Spray. He also of course needs to wear shoes that breathe...leather or canvas, no plastic.

He just uses a spray or two of this on each foot in the morning when putting on his shoes and he no longer has foot odor at night. Good luck!
Just a note on the tea thing...I think he said it's best to use black tea. It's the tannins, and they actually will "tan" his feet a bit but in the middle of winter when he's always go socks and shoes on, no one will even know if it's even dark enough to see a difference!
Maybe a trip to the doctor or antifungal spray is in order. But just so ya know-I had the same problem when I was a teen! And I grew out of it! (THank God.)I'm guessing it was just hormonal.
My daughter had this problem when she was a baby, but for some reason dosen't too bad anymore. But her doctor said to have bare feet as much as possible. And it helped a lot. His feet just might sweat more than most kids, so letting them breathe as much as possible, will work wonders. But I know you can't be barefoot all the time, so who knows, maybe some of these other suggestions will work?
