Stinging Pain Running Through My Chest to My Back

I have an occasional pain that feels like a sting that starts in my chest just below my left breast and shoots back to my back. It feels like something is stinging me in this one little area from both my chest and my back. It lasts for just a second or two, but has been happening since early this morning, maybe two or three times per hour. It seems like the pains happen two or three times, then I don't feel them again for another hour or more. My heart rate seems normal, and nothing else really seems to be abnormal--except I do have a dull headache...

I don't want to overreact, but I also don't want to underreact....does anybody have any ideas what this might be?

What can I do next?

I am not a Dr. but J. i would (if it were me) go & get this checked out. You can never over re-act. Especially when it comes to your health. Beings this has never happened befor i would rather be safe than sorry. I don't want to scare you. It could be heartburn or something simple. Plese let us know how you are.

could be a rib out of place..I have one that goes above my left breast and it is that stinging pain. I usually end up at the chiropractor to get it put back in place and that does the trick.

I agree. Very typical gall bladder symptom. If the sonogram does not give you the answers (gall stones),another test is called a HydaScan. It is a little more involved (radio active dye) but otherwise, non-invasive.

Good luck, Gall attacks can be very painful.

Gall bladder or pleuritis... if it's gb, it will become more of a pressure sensation (similar, I would guess, to what a heart attack must feel like). If it's pleuritis, the sensation will just spread to a broader area and it will start to hurt to raise your arm, cough or bend over. Either way, go see the doc.

Gall Bladder!!! I would recommend getting a sonogram of the area to see if you have gallstones. Coming from someone who has had a severe gall bladder attack, you definitely don't want to let it go that far. Good Luck!
