My daughter is 7 almost 8 mos and loves her food. To make sure she gets enough formula we follow this schedule:

6-8 ounce bottle when she gets up
about 2 hours later, 1/4 cereal w/ a gerber fruit package
6 ounce bottle 4 hours after her first bottle
around 12-1 pm she gets 1 gerber veggie
about 3 hours after the 2nd bottle (generally about 3-4 pm) she gets another 6 ounce bottle
for dinner she gets a veggie/table food
6 oucne bottle around 6:30-7pm before bed.

She gets fruit in a net holder and crackers/fruit puffs to entertain her in between sometimes.

Good luck.

I agree. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS BREASTMILK or formula. Food at this stage is just for "play" and although enjoyable, they don't need it really until 6 mos or pref even 1 whole year! 2 times daily is fine. At about 7-8 months you can do 3 a day if you want but remember this should not be her source of nutrition. http://www.gerber.com/feedingplan Check this out to help answer questions.

If she's hungry, she's hungry. Just feed her and don't worry about it. I never listened to my doctor when it came to that. My son was hungry, so I fed him. He knew when he was hungry and he knew when he was full. He is 16 now and has been skinny as a toothpick his entire life. Guess I didn't over feed him. I even started him on cereal when he was a couple months old (maybe before that)..just a little at night because formula wasn't enough. He was just fine!!!

As long as it is actual food (single-ingredient, prepared at home or without fillers, sweeteners, salt, preservatives, additives, colours or flavours), there is no upper limit. You will likely find that she eats in 'jags' -- lots and lots of one thing for a while, then doesn't want any of that at all anymore...

Letting her determine for herself when she's hungry and when she's had enough, based on her changing body experience as she eats, will protect her from both obesity and anorexia later in life...

dont fill her up too much on solids so that she will not nurse or drink her formula.

she needs to get about 24 oz of formula a day (you cant really tell how much breast milk she gets)

all of the nutrition for the first year comes from formula/breast milk.

solid foods are just practice for eating.
