Hi! I am currently a teacher and am thinking of starting up my own buisness. I was thinking of child care or tutoring in my home. I have a 10 month old and would like to work out of my home next year. I was wondering if anyone can offer some advice or suggestions.

What can I do next?

HI!
I used to teach kindergarten for 7 years and stayed home this year with my son who is now 11 months old. I love it! The most important thing is to start interviewing early! There were many families I interviewed that I had different philosophies and personalities(as you know from teaching) than my own so I was very picky!! The families I work for are awesome!! Also having children close to my son's age has been great. He loves to have kids to play with. As for the pay it is less than teaching-I currently only watch 2 children and are in the process of being licensed, and I do it only 4 days/week. I also tutor 2 children, but that is harder to do b/c my husband works long hours. I do one in the evening and one on Sat. morning. I lucked out and found them quickly, but tutoring is harder to find people. If you have any questions I'd love to talk and help you out!

Hi, I work from home and love what I do. We have no selling, no parties, no inventory, which I love because that is the last thing that I needed to add to my busy life! Visit my website at http://www.themomteam.com/pamrose and request more information. I look forward to hearing from you!

I used to teach 3rd and 4th for 13 years and quit last year to open at at home daycare in Lombard. My daughter was 2 at the time. I love it and it is very rewarding. Lot less meetings and pootics that teaching. Less salary though with business expenses. I was never able to get any tutoring clients as I am new to the Western burbs- use to live on North Shore.

I can help if you look at my site www.gottotsinc.com and e-mail me at ____@____.com

M.,

I have a 10 month old as well and have been babysitting for a while. I LOVE it. You can just get started by looking for families or posting an ad on craigs list. To get licensed you need to get in touch with DCFS for their rules and regulations which is available online. I'm looking into licensing and expanding my business into full time. It truly is a great way to make a living! let me know if you have any questions.
