Staph. . Again

I have had a staph infection on and off for the last nine months. Most of it was during my pregnancy. Well, I delivered about a month ago and I have an outbreak again. Both my midwife and I are at a loss of what to do. I have done the Keflex and Bactrim and Bactroban and those work but only for a few weeks before spots appear again. I have had a culture taken and it isn't MRSA. Even so, it doesn't want to go away. Has anyone tried other medications or treatments that have had success? Or even a Doctor that they would recommend. Although I am breastfeeding, I would be willing to pump and dump for a few weeks to get this out of my system and not pass this along to any of my kids.

What can I do next?

Discinfect your entire house, wash all bedding and clothes in hot water, and there is a soap you can get over the counter that the entire family will need to bathe with for 3 days straight (feet to neck, no head or face). It is the same soap that surgeons scrub with before surgery. I apologize that I can't remember the name of it. Keep the sore covered until it is totally healed.

I strugged with this earlier this year. It took us a long time to get everyone cleared up for good. If you want you can email me and I will share more info with you or find the name of the soap (I think I still have some left).

Probiotics help build up your immune system and counter the bad effects of antibiotics. Google benifits of probiotics. You can get them almost everywhere now. I bought mine at The Vitamin Store.

If the infection is reappearing in the same place, then you're not really curing the infection. Are you using topical antibiotics or oral antibiotics? You might need some combination of both if you haven't already tried that. Otherwise, maybe your immune system needs a boost because there is something else going on that's keeping it suppressed.

If it's appearing in different places, then you're reinfecting yourself with something that's contaminated in your environment. Good hand hygiene is paramount to stopping the spread of an infection. Wash your hands frequently with warm water and antibacterial soap. Use bacteria killing cleaners to disinfect surfaces in your home like door knobs and the telephone, etc.

Hi,
You might research bentonite clay.

You should be able to find more resources from that site and googling it will bring up some.
I got some at a local health food store. I am nursing and take it.

Also, I would get out in the sun as much as possible. Don't use sunscreen so be careful not to burn. They are learning that low Vitamin D affects our immune system more than we realize. Lots of people are low in D especially pregnant and nursing mothers.
