Here's what the problem is. My boyfreind is a handy guy but when it comes to cleaning, he's not so great. Whenever I go over his place to do laundry, I cringe at the sight of his dishwasher and washing machine, even his toilet. Not because it's dirty, but because it's STAINED! He has well-water. If anyone has well-water, you know what I mean. I guess you take to good with the bad when you live on farm land and have the privacy of NO Neighbors. hehe. Anyway, all the iron stains all of these things. We keep the filter changed but to no avail. What cleans this? I heard of Baking Soda, and Vinegar, but how do I used these. Can anyone help me?

What can I do next?

I have well water - and I love it! Best tasting stuff I ever had anywhere - but we are lucky. Not all well water is considered equal.

Well water tends to be hard, very hard, with lots of stuff in it that corrodes your pipes, corrode valves (which can burst) and stains your sinks, tub, you name it.

We invested in a water softener and it is incredible the difference it has made. Not only has the corroding stopped but we no longer need to use as much detergents in our wash water because the softner make the soap more efficient. HTH!

honey have you try the mr clean majick eraser?

that thing is the bomb,

also lysol disinfectant , and peanut butter

easy off fume free oven cleaner.

and bleach

vinegar is good for taking out odors from towels and things,

also for tile floors

baking soda is and abrasive so be careful with that.

And certain water softeners are used to also treat the water and help remove the build up.

Growing up in a well water household I know your pain! I found that the thing that works the best, and smells the least harsh (and most pleasant) to be Sno Bowl. I am in CT, and the only place I know of to get it is Wal Mart. Iron Out works too but it is really harsh smelling (I have asthma so thats not a solution for me). You can use the stuff in the sinks, shower, not just the toilet, good luck!

My best friend has this same trouble. We have well water but no iron--thank goodness. They use Iron Out. You can get it at the grocery store in the cleaning/laundry isle. I think it's like $4 a bottle. Hope this helps!
