Stain Removal Question/JFF - Messes You Never Thought You Would Have to Clean Up

We have just given our 2 year old a little more freedom in where he gets to play. Before he was restricted to playing in the living room while I was doing other things and only playing in his room while either me and hubby were in there with him. Now we leave his bedroom door open and he can go between his bedroom and living room (They are pretty much right next to each other) whenever he pleases while I do other things (Cleaning, etc).

Well, today I was doing the dishes and realized that he was quiet... Too quiet. I had a feeling that I should grab my camera so I decided to record whatever he was doing. Walked down the hallway... Into his room... OH MY GOD... He found his diaper bag which I had set behind the rocking chair. Inside the diaper bag he had found his sun screen lotion, which I had completely forgotten was in there. He then proceeded to paint our bage carpet, his black bean bag chair, and his body with this white sun screen

On the plus side... We got a great video. I asked him if he was proud of himself and he thought hard for a moment before saying 'Um... Yes!' and started giggling. Great video.

Down side... There is now a large white stain on our apartment floor and I highly doubt that our landlord will find this situation as humorous. I took our carpet cleaner to it and it got all the sun screen lotion out of the carpet, but there is still a large white stain. How do I get it out?!?!?! Please someone be my life-saver!

Oh, and because I would love some laughs right now, as a just for fun question... What are some messes your kids (Or pets) created that you just never envisioned yourself cleaning up?

What can I do next?

Oh yikes. That sounds bad! I hope you can get it out.
Years ago, when we had a 2 and 4 year old, we went through a few months that were just awful, the kids were into everything. One day while my husband was "in charge" they found a case of chocolate milk boxes in Aunt Molly's bedroom (she was living in the basement) and opened all of them. The spilled chocolate milk all over beige carpet and then tried to clean it up by emptying all her perfume bottles on the chocolate milk stains. That chocolate milk never came out, no matter how many cleaning products I tried. Another time, they painted their room in butter and jam. The whole room. Walls, window, beds, carpet. I don't even remember how we got all that butter out but somehow we did. I do remember it took a long time though! Boy those were the hardest days of motherhood!

The universe sent me my youngest child specifically to teach me how to remove stains from things, and also to let me know that my parenting skills are really not that great, I'm pretty sure. She is now 7, and can be trusted (mostly) not to make huge messes, but in her toddler years, I experienced the following:
* crayons (a whole box of them) melted in a load of white laundry, and all over the dryer drum
* Hot pink nail polish on white carpet
* green poster paint all over the (panicked, running all over the house) cat
* hair conditioner filling ALL of my shoes (large, Costco-sized pump bottle)
* Elmer's glue all over the wood floor (entire bottle of it, upended, finger-painted with it)
* brand-new tube of mascara - brushed her teeth with it!
* poster paint (entire bottle) emptied into the toilet (at least that one was easy to clean up)

The child is like Houdini and a monkey, all wrapped into one. It's a good thing she's so cute.

to remove sun screen from carpet?

Remove as much of the sunscreen as possible from the carpet without spreading the stain further.

Shake cornstarch or baking soda onto the stained area. Let it sit and soak in for approximately 15 minutes.

After 15 minutes, scrape or vacuum up the baking soda or cornstarch...you might have to repeat several times...

Depending on the amount spilled you may need to repeat this step until no more sunscreen is absorbed by the baking soda or cornstarch.

Emmy never messed up anything but herself

I set her up with paint and her kiddie easel in the dining room while cooking when she was 2. she came in after painting herself green . "Look mommy I'm a monster...roar!"

Emmy's puppy Tom on the other hand has destoryed everything
lets see:
9 weeks old- left in kitchen for 10 minutes where everything was off the floor, we walk in the trash can is knocked over and he ate wings and everything else
4 months- he;s in the kitchen with M., the trash can now is metal and has a lid...i leave for a second while heating soup...i places a cupcake on the counter high up...come back in no cupcake, no crumbs...hmmmmmm wonder who ate the chocolate cupcake in less than 2 seconds and can now get up past counter level

6 months- kitchen again (you think we'd learn) this time counters clean,. trash can secure...hmmm he opened the pantry cabinet and tore open an entire box of tea bags

Emmy was always more behaved than this puppy!

A couple things I never expected include a dog that got ahold of a large bottle of green food dye and managed to get it all over 95% of his body as he chewed it up. And then track it all over the house. Right around St. Patricks day. What. A. Mess. He was green for weeks.

Then there was DD when she was about 2. We were expecting our first ever non-family babysitter to arrive for a long awaited evening out... 3 minute before the lady arrived DD found a sharpie marker and proceeded to run up and down the hallway drawing all over the freshly painted walls. I think the toilet overflowed as we were trying to scrub the stains out... not a very relaxed evening after all.

Oh, I have no idea how to clean up the sun screen. I'm sure my dogs would lick it out of the carpet if they were there. They eat everything else.

my daughter projectile pooped, yes pooped at my fiance when he was changing her.. he immediatley took the shirt off n threw iit on the floor (on our carpet!-brilliant), put a new shirt on, started cleaning her up.. she started crying so he picked her up, no diaper on, and she peed all over him, he took that shirt off(again threw it on the floor), cleaned her, changed her, started to carry her out of the room and she projectile barfed everywhere.. so my rug ended up with poop, pee and baby barf... oh and shortly after my dog stepped in his own poop in the yard and ran around the house, making little poopy footprints all over my moms offwhite living room rug.. that was fun

also my dog has a nice habit of shredding our toilet paper/eating it and leaving a trail of toilet paper shreds all around the house.. hes a big fan of knocking over the garbage can and taking whatever he thinks is good out to eat.. but yet he cant eat it on the tile floor in the kitchen, for some reason he must bring it over to the dining room rug to eat it

a few years ago it was the morning of thanksgiving and the turkey was sitting out in a pan (still in the packaging) defrosting on the counter in the garage..it was pushed all the way back to the wall but some how my dog must have got a running start and flew up onto the counter because next thing you know we look outside and hes running circles in the yard dragging the turkey around the patio and through the grass n mudd.. my dad went out to get him and my dog ran full speed through the house dragging the muddy dripping messedup turkey with him

My daughter painting with her poop. She did it from 15-18 months, off and on, until she potty trained at 18 months.

Here are a couple of sites for removing oil stains on carpet. It's the oil in the lotion that is absorbed by the carpet.

Both of my granddaughters 10 years apart smeared hand lotion all over the upholstered furniture and rug. Their mother removed it with Dawn dish washing detergent solution.

My first child never really made messes, but she DID try to "fix" her blanket, which had some fraying strings...she got out her safety scissors and was cutting away when I discovered this scene. It ruined the blanket, because then the whole thing began to fray...and she was SOOOO sad. :(

My second one...she's the type that will take markers to the furniture, peanut butter to the wall, you name it. I don't want to hide all the art supplies from her, because I fully believe in being creative when the inspiration hits...but...

I'm sorry I don't have a suggestion for the carpet. Perhaps plain water might help lift it out...I know it's oily/greasy, so I'm sure there's something special that isn't water that you are supposed to use. Forget I said water...probably will have to look that one up!

No clue about the stain (sorry) although you MIGHT try to tea dye it...

After Christmas I found myself cleaning up a bag of FIVE THOUSAND air soft ammo pellets from my dining room floor. And, yes, it was ALL my fault!
