Unfortunately, you may not be able to get the red out at all. Red is one of those colors that just grabs onto a fabric and won't let go.

I too would love to know stain removal tricks. Here are two that I have done but believe me, they are not without several days of sitting in the sink soaking. I buy the powdered Oxy Clean and make a paste and rub it on the stain and then let the item soak in the bathroom sink overnight to two days for a tough one. The other thing that I have done is use liquid fabric softener to remove stains. This takes a few days though and patience. You literally dump fabric softener in the sink and soak the item. I have heard of an item called Phels Nafta Soap. My Aunt swears by it. She tells me that it takes even old stains out. I have yet to try it. I believe it comes in a bar. Target sells it at times but I do know that you can purchase it online. Good luck!! :o)

keep trying shout on it and washing it over and over....whatever you do - dont dry it or the stain will be set. i also use ivory dishwashing liquid (the plain one) and squirt it on there and let it set for a few days and then wash.

Try Oxyclean. If that doesn't work, I really recommend Shacklee Basic H mixed with Nature Bright stain remover. I'm not a seller or distributer (I know a lot of people on this site are always selling things), but when I could not get old baby formual-spit-up (sometimes months old) out of my son's clothes, I posted on here, and someone responded recommended these products. I was desperate, so I actually did try it. I swear, it really works!

I put Basic H on it, then the Nature Bright powder and rub it in with a toothbrush. Then I let it sit for an hour or two. I would caution you that it can bleach the fabric if you leave it on too long, but an hour or two usually removes any stain I put it on - including red dyes from washing-gone-wrong and cranberry juice. I don't sell it, but I think you can just buy it online or maybe post for a distributer to help you get it. Good luck.

EDIT: Ah, maybe the person who posted right before I did can help you?

Mix Clorox 2 and Cascade in very hot water and soak the suit in that. I think the ratio is 1 cup of each detergent in 5 gallons of water, but you can google Tightwad Gazette stain remover for the specifics. Anyway, this mixture got out a stain in my white jeans that the dry cleaner was unable to remove (and my dry cleaner has worked magic for me in the past). It may have to soak for a day and a half or two days, but it will work eventually. A friend with a master's degree in textiles uses Tide and Cascade and she says it even gets out old baby formula stains. I don't know what ratio she uses.
