If it is an organic stain like from a body fluid, you can hang it in direct sunlight while soaking wet. If that doesn't do it, a soak or two in Oxyclean may do the trick. Good luck!
I have a white bib that I plan to use for my infant son's baptism this weekend. I used this bib for my toddler's baptism last year and think the discoloration was just from drooling. The bib was washed after it was worn last year and packed away. No stains were on it last year, however a yellow discoloration has appeared where the drool was originally. I don't want to ruin the bib in the process of trying to get the stains out. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to safely remove the stains? The material is a shiny (satin look) on front made of Polyester; the back is cotton. I don't think I could scrub the front without roughing up the texture. Any suggestions?

Ditto on the sun - I laid out all of my toddlers stuff that had yellow stains from milk, whatever and it just faded right away. I didn't even get it wet or put anything else on it but that might help it go faster...?
I have used Oxyclean and Biz and Z-out.
All seem to work fine. Oxyclean powder did an awesome job on an old set-in stain that nothing else seemed to work on. (But I didn't have Biz back then, so I can't say that Biz wouldn't have taken care of it) I put it in the tub and soaked it for a couple of days. Got that from some previous Mamasource post!
I love this source!
Good luck!

I always use oxyclean for all my "baby clothes that have yellowed in storage" problem! You may have to soak for about 24 hours, but I bet it will get it out. I've always had it to work. Good luck!
There is a product at Dollar Stores called Awesome that can be used on clothes as well. It gets a lot of stuff clean.
number of suggestions ...
baking soda
vinegar
dawn liquid dish detergent
try all three individually and see what happens. i cannot guarantee this will work but never know till you try. or take it to a dry cleaning business. since it is a special event and ask them to please not to charge you $5.00 or so... never know till you ask!!!!
good luck.
If you want to try something natural that won't be hard on the fabric, you can always wet the bib, put some lemon juice on the stain and then dry it in the sun. The sun takes out all of the stains from my baby's clothes and diapers! It also sanitizes in the process (added bonus). And, you may not even need the lemon juice. Often the stain will come out if you just get it wet and dry it in the sun.=)
For stains on heirloom fabrics we soak everything in Biz-sometimes it takes 3 days but no damage to the fabric.
I used oxiclean on some of my 40+ year old baby clothes for my daughter. Just put a scoop in a bowl of water (as hot as the fabric will take) and soak for at least a few hours- maybe overnight. Since you think the stain is drool this should work. Oxiclean saved some beautiful vintage baby clothes for me without harming them.
Try Oxyclean! I've used it to remove stains (even old stains) and it seems to work miracles. I generally have better luck with the powder than the liquid Oxyclean. I fill the sink with water, make a paste w/the oxyclean powder and gently rub it in and then add more to the water and soak for 24-hours. I have cleaned many items this way with a lot of success. Good luck!
Hi K.,
I had a similar experience with baby clothes. If you soak it in Nature Bright from Shaklee, the stain will go away. This product is non toxic and safe for the fabric. You can order it at http://www.shaklee.net/healthforlife Look for Get Clean.
Good luck!
I always use Zout. My MIL introduced me to it a few years ago and I would not trade it for anything. It is in a red bottle. I LOVE it.
We actually had this issue a couple days ago because my son is getting dedicated this weekend too. I want him to wear the same outfit that my husband was dedicated in 30 years ago, and it had a yellowish stain on it. It is a white cotton fabric, but we wanted to be gentle with it since it is 30 years old. We used Zout - just squirt some on the fabric so it soaks through to the backside then gently rub your fingers together in the front and back of the fabric. Let it set for a couple minutes, and then we put ours in the washer on gentle cycle with cold water. Good Luck!
Shaklee's Nature Bright. I use it on all my whites - it has taken out stains that have been set the dryer. I wet the garment - make a paste with the Nature Bright and let it sit on the garment overnight or for a few days - then wash. I don't sell Shaklee, but I can put you touch with the lady that I buy from if you would like. I can also let you try some on mine if you don't have time to order (I am in Highland Village).
I swear by Formula 409! :)
If all else fails, mix equal parts Clorox 2 and Cascade dish detergent in a pail of very hot water. Soak the bib for a couple of hours or even overnight. Then wash it normally in the washer. It gets out a ton of stains, but it's fairly harsh, so save this for the last resort.
Take a whole cup of Oxy Clean and put it in the smallest load on your washer, let it soak overnight. Fill the washer to a large load, add non-bleach laundry detergent, and finishing washing. You can add a regular load of laundry while washing so you don't waste the full load of water. I've used this method on baby clothes that have been stored for 10 years, and they all ended up looking brand new again. Good Luck!
