Stain on Stainless/Chrome Tea Pot

I (by mistake) boiled down my stainless (I think it's stainless... it's shiny and chrome like...??) tea pot and the whole outside turned this weird brown color. It's like the silver of the stainless/ chrome has a fog over it that I can't seem to get out. Can anyone offer a suggestion re: getting this clean so that I may use it again? Thank you!

What can I do next?

Ditto Barkeep's Friend! I've also used plain ole baking soda and it works.

I would try CLR cleaner and a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. If that won't get the stain out, probably nothing will! Good luck-

I caught mine on fire recently- some paper on the burner and whoosh there goes the shiny pot. Mr clean eraser worked for me. Then I used some stainless steel cleaner to shine up after.

Try Barkeep's Friend -- I found it in our regular supermarket. It is in a cylinder with a shaker on top (like old-style Clorox powder). It is powder that you use as a scrub, but it is really gentle and makes the chrome shiny without scratching. It got some weird brown stains out of our stainless steel dishwasher.
