My daughter's preschool asked everyone to pack a lunch with as much green as possible. Im having such a hard time thinking of "green" food. All that I can think of is pickles and jello. Any suggestions?
Kiwis, spinach (plain or creamed or dip), lettuce, bartlette pears, sugar snap peas, snow peas, zucchini, pistachio ice cream, green cabbage, peas, guacamole/avocados, celery, honeydew melon, green apples, spinach pasta, pesto sauce...and there is green food coloring for everything else ;-)

This isn't that Irish, but every part of the lunch would have green in it....a meat and cheese wrap made with a spinach tortilla, you can even put a few drops of green food coloring in the cream cheese that seals the wrap, guacamole and chips, and green grapes.
I hope she has fun!!

I know veggies can be tricky for a 3-year old, but my son loves raw veggies--broccoli, cucumbers, and sugar snap peas! Kids that age seem to love to dip their food, so you could pack a bit of ranch dressing too. (assuming there is refridgeration at school!) Good luck!

Basil pesto on spinach noodles would be so yummy, and tasty hot or cold. I am planning to cut refrigerator biscuits into shamrocks with a cookie cutter and then sprinkle some green sprinkles on the tops for a green breakfast treat. (And there's always green eggs and ham--ew!)
Snap peas, green beans and broccoli cut small are all be things my kids would eat with a dip. Have fun!

Keep in mind that you can always use green food coloring. Make some rice krispie treats and color them green, or green popcorn balls. If you have the time you could even make green bread for sandwiches by coloring the dough before baking it. Send her with a green drink as well--Kook-Aid or Gatorade have flavors that are green. You might want to try some of these things out at home so she knows that it's okay to eat them!

food dye-that's what my mom used to do for me and my sister and what I intend to do for my 2 1/2 yr old, too. I'll dye her milk, her eggs, and even some pancakes-tell her a leprechaun was here. As far as a packed lunch, I thought of grapes, sugar snap peas, broccoli, and a salad.
cheers!

cut green peppers horizontally and lay them flat, they look like a clover if you add a little green pepper "stem". you could include ranch dressing mixed with pureed spinach or even just green food coloring to dip veggies in.
My mom would always do all green food for us on St. Patty's day when we were kids, and I remember green milk, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on green home made bread, green Squeezits to drink, green fruit rollups (apple flavored). you could do a green apple, slices kiwifruit, celery, a green salad. pickles and jello are great ideas too! Good luck!

Sounds like fun! The only green food I can think of is cucumbers, celery, lettuce, etc. The healthy stuff. However, if you wanted, you can dye just about anything, i.e. rice krispie treates, pudding (anything you can stir in). Have fun.

Try celery, try green peppers, try snow peas, try string beans, try guacamole, try just about any kind of lettuce - and, if all else fails, try a little green vegetable coloring in a number of other things! (What your daughter will actually eat out of all this I don't know! Have fun!)
Don't forget about all of those good veggies. Broccoli, beans, cucumbers, and also grapes. Good luck

Food coloring can be used to change the appearance of some items. I immediately thought of celery and green apples. Your child could dip them into peanut butter. I'm not sure if food coloring will change that to green. There are green pears and if you are willing to bake your own bread that could be turned green by using food coloring. You could pack cream of broccoli soup in a thermas. There are green drinks that come in packages like Kool Aid and your green jello would make a great dessert. There is Honey Dew Melon that is green on the inside. Just find a way to balance it out and have fun. Good luck.

Well besides just pickles and jello....
You could pack her a sandwich with Lettuce on it...
Sour Cream and Onion Chips-(while not totally green it at least has green specks on it)...
There's fruit snacks or fruit roll-ups...
Green apples...
Green grapes...
Watermelon is green on the outside...
Green juice (I used to get these little juices that came in red, green, blue, etc...
or you could get special St. Pattys cookies to bake, or bake normal cookies or cupcakes and decorate with food colored frosting or green sprinkles...
The possibilities are endless!

You could send green grapes, broccolli (raw), and cookies with green icing. You can add green food coloring to lots of different types of food and/or drink also. Even green milk. Since I also cannot think of a main item that could be green you could always cut bologna and cheese in the shape of a shamrock for fun.

THis was always a fun one when I was a child and I have continued the tradition with my 3 YO son...
...dye the food!!! Think of some regularly non-green foods and then add a splash of green food coloring (diluted down wiht water so that it doesn't stain your fingers and everything else around).
There are also green veggies and fruits that are always fun: grapes, celery, apples, cucumbers; you have green fruit roll ups, green fruit snacks (take out all the other colors).
Have fun and enjoy St. Patty's Day!!!

Does she like spinach? My 15 month old loves steamed spinach. He eats it at least 4 times a week. For a treat, you can put a couple drops of green food coloring in rice crispy treats. I did this at Halloween with orange, and it was a hit!
