Today my baby turns five months and I have breastfeed the whole time. Yesterday I started spotting along with some cramping, is this normal?

What can I do next?

I think I started my period when my son was 9-10 months...it is totally normal to have a period while breastfeeding, some women are just luckier than others and do not have their periods the whole time :)

That is the same time that I started again with both of my boys. Don't be concerned at all. Wasn't no period nice while it lasted though!?! That is definitely one more great perk to breastfeeding.

you could be just having a "flash in the pan". I had a small period around this same time...and then it went away for another year.

I did that and never fully started. In fact, I got pregnant at 13 months but still had no period. I only ovulated once, and that's all it took ;).

Could be your period coming a long. Very normal if that is what it is. I started my period with my son when he was 5 months as well and with my daughter 6 months. I thought I wouldn't have it because I breastfed them both so regularly but it happens. Every woman's body is different. Don't be alarmed unless it is out of the ordinary and something doesn't feel right. In that case call your doctor.

Yeah it's pretty normal. You will probably get a regular period in the next few months.

Absolutely. Your cycle has got to start again sometime, and breastfeeding won't keep it at bay forever. I breastfed my daughter until she was about two and got my cycle again when she was 9 months. My son only breastfed for about five months, but I didn't get my cycle again for two months after he stopped, and my other son stopped at two months and my cycle began right away, so it's different every time. You have nothing to be concerned about, but it's not fun, either! :)

Everyone is different. I bled right away after giving birth both times and breastfed both times. The cramping and spotting is perfectly normal. You can start at any time after giving birth regardless of breastfeeding or not. It all depends on when your body chooses to start the period cycles again.

Very normal. Some women are blessed and dont ever have a cycle while they breast feed and some of us not so lucky. I breastfed bothe of my children and had a full cycle every month guess what I am super fertile. Even breastfeeding doesnt always stop ovulation. Nothing to worry about it happens to the best of us :) I hope this puts your mind at ease a bit

I breastfed both of my girls and started my period when they were 7 weeks old- for both of them. It really stinks to have a period when others don't, but my OB/GYN said it was normal to start whenever my body wanted to- guess that's how people get pregnant while they are nursing!! Sorry you didn't get more of a break.....

Sounds pretty normal from my experience and I breastfed both of my babies. I started cramping and spotting around 3 months postpartum with my first and got a period soon after. I started that up about 6 months postpartum with my second child. Just make sure you're using a contraceptive if you're not ready for another pregnancy. Breastfeeding protection starts to dwindle the longer you breastfeed. Best wishes!
