Sport Trophies

My son is now 13 and willing to give up some of his sport trophies collected over the years. I don't want to toss them in the trash, but can't find a place that will take them. The trophies are in good condition and the engraved plaques can be removed and replaced. Does anyone know an organization interested in reusing kid sport trophies?

What can I do next?

My kids had tons of trophys too and when I offered them back to the organizations they came from, they didnt want them. They want all new matching trophys for teams now. I peeled the name plates off and gave them away at a garage sale to every little kid who came by. Gosh they were thrilled! Youd think they had really won something! Then I took the left overs to a thrift shop and they were happy to get them. People buy them for gag gifts and goofy awards so I was happy they werent wasted.

I've seen them at thrift stores. You could call the sports organization that gave him the trophies and see if they'd like to reuse them.

This is going to sound really odd, but the kids involved love this!

A lot of old trophies have been donated to the Special Olympics gym (adapted phys ed) class at our school so the teacher can give them to the kids after various sport units. They don't care much that the label has been pulled off, but they do get really excited that they are the 'soccer all star' of the class and get to take home a trophy.

Maybe call your local high school or special olympics in your area?

I would call a trophy shop in your area and see if they can recycle/re-use. The sports organization is not going to want them back....good luck!

Call the different organizations and ask them if they want them to reuse. We do that with BMX trophy's occasionally. They get one every week when they race and they add up quickly. The plate peels off and new ones can be quickly placed in the spot.
