I always gave my kids cold water bottles for lunch and travel, and taught them to put them in the recycle bin when they were done. We only did juice, milk, lemonade and other sticky, messy drinks at the table.
Mamas & Papas-
We're ready to replace DS's playtex sippy cups with some kid friendly travel mugs. Any ideas or suggestions? Contigo has great reviews, but some say it gets moldy.
looking for something that holds roughly 12 oz.
spill proof.
dishwasher safe.
keeps cold beverages cold.
the fewer parts the better.
it should be lunchbox friendly (so not too big).
it should be lunchroom friendly. That's why I am after spillproof rather than a stainless steel water bottle with a screwcap.
Thanks a bunch.

I used the thermos for my daughter when she was younger. I never had a problem with cleaning but I would use a Q-tip to clean the inside of the straw. As your son gets older you can switch to a different bottle.
We sent Juicy Juice boxes in their lunch. No dishes, no mold, goes right in the trash.
THer mos funtainer. We have 4 or 5 lobe them. Keeps drinkscold all day long. They are sstainlesssteel with a ddetachable straw screw on cap that is spill proof when closed and hardly lleaves when open if knocked over. Easy to clean as well

My husband just bought a Bubba brand for our son. I think he got it at Walmart.
12 oz
Stainless steel
BPA free
Easy pop up straw
Dishwasher safe except for the interior straw
Interrior straw is an easy pop on, pop off
Says it keeps things cold for 12 hours but we haven't tried that yet
Says it is leak proof, but if the pop up straw isn't closed all the way it leaks from the air hole on the top.
It fits in the lunchbox but doesn't leave much room for other things. His lunchbox is a little on the small side. I couldn't fit the mug, small thermos of Mac and cheese, and two small containers with carrots and apples. He had to carry the mug.
I love my Contigo's. What part gets mouldy?
