Hi to all you mamas out there!!! I was wondering what all of you have used or use soy formula think is the best choice out there. I just switched to soy as it is a better choice for my son and all of his stomach issues and wanted to ask those of you who use soy, what you have found to be the best one. Thanks so much. I can't wait to hear your responses.

What can I do next?

Hi M.,
I highly recommend you do a bit of research on Soy Milk. I just recently took one of my girls that has a sensitive stomach off of it. My daughter is lactose so I had her on Similac Lactose Free but then I had all kinds of people tell me how great Soy milk is so I tried it. Well - I started reading about the Soy milk and I found a lot of articles talking about how it has a lot of progesterone and it's not good for babies. My daugher is now back on Similac Lactose Free. You should definitely research it a bit before you give it to your son. Make sure you're okay with it. Good Luck!

Hi M., I am a mother of a 2 year old son and we used soy formula for him because he spit up a lot also, and the other formula's were hard on his stomach, I think the best one is Prosobee from emfamil, it is great. It's kind of hard to scoop but it's a lot easier to mix, we also tried similac soy which is easier to scoop but really hard to get to mix. I was going to tell you too that once your son starts on regular milk I would stay on soy. My son had trouble with regular formula and once he turned one and went on regular milk he had a lot of trouble. We found out that he is allergic to milk. We use the Silk Vanilla soy milk and he loves it! Good luck with everything! I hope this was helpful to you.

My son Matthew is now 3 1/2 years old but he had terrible digestion problems when he was about 3 months old and on. I used a soy formula (can't remember the exact one, but it was the "comfort proteins" one). He did well for a little while but then started having other digestive problems. My pediatrician said that the soy formula was ok for a little while but that in reality it was not the best formula to use. I ended up putting Matthew back on regular formula two months later and the digestion problems were all resolved. I've learned with time that a lot of babies have "digestion issues" and that it is something that seems to go away after a little time. I guess if you are to use soy formula, try it for a little while then wean him off of it if you can.

I know this is a late response, but I had the same question months ago and wished someone would have told me right away to use Nestle GoodStart soy. It is the most gentle and they can still have regular poops with it. That was an issue with the Enfamil brand with my baby. By now I bet you've already figured out which to use...but just in case this one was a winner for us.

I used soy formula for my daughter! She had horrible stomach issues! I used Enfamil! I went to a specialist and he said that soy formula has the equivalent of 3 birth control pills in each 8 ounce feeding! I stopped the formula immediately! I had no idea soy had that much progesterone in it! Ask your doctor and do some research about the contents of soy baby formula!

I used a formula called Progestimil! It is expensive but it solved my daughters reflux! It is a pre-digested formula and is the easiest on the tummy! I went to a specialist at Choc hospital, that is what he suggested!

Hi M.,

This is a question that gets asked a lot. If you are not going to breastfeed, then the next step can be a hard guessing game as to what formula will be the best for the baby. In my opinion I would say to go with soy for two reasons. Cow and sheep milk are very harsh on a newborns digestive system and can set your baby up for allergic reactions. Soy has a much less tendency of doing this. You will find that he will have less spitting up but my have more gas. Make sure that you follow a bottle up with half a bottle of water and I also recommend aloe juice. Lastly, make sure that your baby is on a good vitamin if you are not breastfeeding. This will help build the immune system.

Email me if you have more questions and all the best on your new addition.

My son was 3 months old when we started on soy. The best for him was Similac soy. He is now 15 months old and still using the same brand.
