My son takes the Enfamil Nutramgin which is basically for those who are lactose intolerant. His movements are firm 90% of the time and he is just fine. It is just like ours I would say but on a smaller scale.
I recently started feeding my son soy formula (due to gas and fussiness issues). It is the Enfamil brand ProSobee. Since he has been drinking this, his bowel movements have been firm. Does this occur with all of the soy formulas? Should I try another brand? Perhaps Similac? Please share your experiences.
I guess I should mention that I talked to a doctor BEFORE putting him on soy. I had done my research and was concerned about the estrogen.

I agree with Tricia. soy is not a good idea for babies and children. you can read more on www.westonaprice.org. they provide substantiated evidence of the potential harm it can cause. in particular they have a pamphlet entitled "soy alert" that in my opinion is a must read for any mom. I think you can read it online.
J.,
We had to start soy not long after I became pregnant with number 2. My milk supply would not sustain my son's appetite. We tried organic milk based formula, but he broke out in hives. So we used soy and the transition went smoothly. We use Similac and have not had significant changes in his BMs. He does go more often, but no significant changes. I did some research on the hormones in soy and after speaking with our pediatrician, we decided soy was the way to continue. My son is 8.5 months and we've been using soy for about 4 weeks.
Good luck!!
My oldest was also gassy and fussy. Soy formula made her constipated, with very hard stools. We ended up on lactose-free--I think it was Enfamil--and she did great on it. Good luck!
Dear J.,
I would stop the soy ASAP! Soy is like giving your son a birth-control pill every day! It has a lot of estrogen in it. Not good for boys! With my son I was unable to make enough breastmilk, and the only milk that worked was Alamentum (sp? its been 8yrs). How old is your son? Goat milk is easier to digest, but not for newborns. I have been breastfeeding for the last 3 1/2 years, (my 3yr old girl for 2yrs and my 1 1/2yr old girl) I had a 3 week brake in between kids. So I dont know much about formulas now days, but I would stop soy. I hope you will find something that works.

We used Similac. Worked fine. With formula his bm was firmer but not hard. I want to say more a thick mud (I know ew but it the only way I could think to describe it to make since).
Firm bm started with solids. Just FYI. Really firm came when he was backed up and he let me know it :)
There are many opinions about soy. I have read a lot of them. I have come to the conclusion that it is best for my son and our situation. Once he turned one whole milk was not fun (major gas). We are now on Silk Soy.
