Source for 'Green' Children's Furniture?

I'm looking to buy my child a bedroom set (new) and have googled it--too much to sort through. What sources have you found for environmentally sound furniture? I want to make sure the wood is sustainably harvested and made with care when it comes to finishing and glues, etc. (no off-gassing or as little as possible...which is why I hesitate to buy used--hard to check into the practices/manufacturing of something that was made so long ago and may not be up to today's "standards"). Names of stores or websites are great--Thanks!

It's not new, as requested, but the very greenest thing you could do would be to repurpose something used. Sustainably harvested from the thrift shop down the street! :) That was meant to be a joke, but honestly, its the best thing you can do for your community and the Earth. The money goes to whatever charity runs the store. You are keeping something from the going into the landfill. There are no envoronmental concerns about the construction method as it has already been around for years. Plus there is often a big improvement in quality because they really dont build them like they used to anymore! Sorry for not answering your original question as written. But I hope you find this idea helpful anyway. Good luck on your search.

I would look for an Amish community to purchase from.

Julia is right- Ikea has "greened" their supply chain up and down and is inexpensive. The following brands are also know for their eco friendliness but are fairly pricey:
Stokke: http://www.stokke.com/en-us/nursery/stokke-sleepi-bed.aspx
I have their Tripp Trapp- it is the best ever!
Oeuf

Love this brand, but couldn't afford it!

I agree with Tracy – used is green. (Except for products constructed with plywood or particleboard, which can off-gas nasty chemicals like formaldehyde for years.) But if you really want new or can't find anything you like used, check local craftspeople – you may not only find people who will happily build what you want, but you can support your local economy as well.

You have a company in your area called Lifekind that sells platform beds and organic bedding. I don't think they offer other furniture, but I have ordered their bedding and have been very happy with it. Check out http://www.lifekind.com/index.php/site_category_product_r... for more information.
