Anyone have any good sore throat remedies? I have chloraseptic drops but I only have 2 left and they aren't really working anyway. I'm having some hot tea...hoping that helps.

Mom says: Gargle salt water.
I say, I have a drunk dad, a husband I won't kiss and a funny sounding mom.

Gargle salt water

Hot tea (maybe it's just because it's what my mom used to do for me)

Advil (specifically because it doesn't just ease pain but it's an anti-inflamatory and can help with irritation, swelling as well)

Something for drainage because if it's not viral or bacterial, it's allergy drainage.

I know this sounds gross, but it really helps. Gargle with apple cider vinegar. Cut it with just a little water to help you be brave, but let it get back in there, and keep it back there as long as you can stand it. Swallowing just a tad is good too.

Your sore throat has changed the pH balance in there. The vinegar helps put the pH balance back where it should be.

Hope you get better soon!

You can try rinsing your sinuses with a neti pot and warm saline.
The salt water can help with what's dripping down your throat.
Gargling with salt water is good, too.
Get a pinch of salt.
Look straight up (or lie down), open your mouth, then sprinkle the pinch of salt so it falls on the back of your tongue/throat and just leave it there as long as you can (drink water before you do this, not after).
I was skeptical till I tried it but it works to take some of the sting of a sore throat away.

A few things have worked for me. 1) A spoonful of honey topped with cinnamon. (Not sure why, but it doesn't last very long without cinnamon.)
2) Drinking ruby red grapefruit juice. (Orange juice helps too, but the grapefruit juice is stronger.) 3) Gargling with warm salt water. 4) A drop of clove oil at the back of your throat. (This will make your mouth/throat numb.)

If gargling salt water doesn't help, snort it. I know it sounds gross but it's worked for me before. Also make sure to have a humidifer running in your house or room. Stand in the bathroom and run the shower really hot to see if that will help.

A drop or two of high grade tea tree oil in a half cup of warm water is great to gargle. Hold it on your throat as long as you can. The oil will absorb deep into the tissue and will actually heal it (sicknesses and simply irritated tissue). Works EVERY time!

Most people don't have this on hand, but I put 15 drops of grapefruit seed extract in warm water and gargle. It takes the pain away very fast and kills germs.

Honey and lemon works great too. I hope the tea gives you some relief!
