I'm not sure about while you are pregnant but when you are breast feeding, Lansinol, a lanolin based product is best for sore nipples.
Good luck!

Hi there,

I always found that a sports bra helps. You might want to try a size smaller so that it is really tight. Sometimes I even slept in it. It might be uncomfortable at first, but it really helps if they do not move. Also, the breast tenderness should subside soon. It's the worst kind of pain, I know, but it does get better.

Good luck.

Frozen unpopped popcorn works well and won't get yucky. I have also Heard frozen cabbage leaves are good for the shape and doesn't apply extra pressure.

Good luck

Get a couple bags of frozen peas and use them as ice packs. They will be cold and they will form to you. Toss them back in the freezer to get ready for the next time you need them.

I know this sounds silly. My ob/gyn recommended this after I had my first child. It really did help and it is better than hard ice packs. I nursed for a year. I am pregnant now and I wear a support bra. Having cold compresses might help now. I know the frozen peas helped me when I first started nursing. After a while the tenderness/soreness will go down.

Your breasts will never know if you buy generic or name brand. :)

I don't have a good solution for pre-baby soreness, but if you are planning to breastfeed...get Soothies Gel Pads now to have on hand! They are wonderful - very helpful during the first few weeks of getting your body in the groove. I used to get them at Walgreens, but I'm sure you can find other retailers by looking online.

Good luck to you!

V.,

I've found NOTHING that makes the soreness go totally away. I'm pregnant with my second child now and the "ta-ta's" are killing me - just like they did the 1st time around.

The best thing to do is to give the girls some support. I wear a sports bra every single day now. The regular bras don't fit and don't give the support I need. But, things that cause too much motion (stairs, jogging, getting up from laying down) will still give you some discomfort.

And, it gets much worse as the milk comes in. I think many breastfeeding Mom's can agree with me that when it's past time for nursing/pumping...it's very painful.

One of the joys of being a Mom, I suppose.

Earth Mama Angel Baby makes these things called Booby Tubes. They are wonderful. They are just coil shaped fabric things with beans or something inside. You put them in the fridge for awhile, or heat them in the microwave, then put them right in your bra. Same idea as cabbage leaves, only less smelly and you can use heat if you prefer. Really these things are great for soreness. (they don't do anything for nipple soreness, but it doesn't seem like that's the issue.)

A good bra will help this a lot - I like the Bravado! ones for both pregnancy and breastfeeding (definitely stay away from anything underwire). Also a warm bath or shower will help. Are you in your first trimester? This will get better as your pregnancy progresses, even if you do nothing.
