I have the crooked toe next to the baby toe on both feet as well. I haven't had any problems walking, running, ect... Google it!
I noticed about 5 or 6 mths ago that my 3 1/2 year old's toes were growing crooked. By that I mean, on his left foot, the toe next to his little toe looks like it's laying sideways. On each foot, the toe next to the big toe is kinda on top of the big toe. I asked his pedi about it and she looked at his feet and said that this was probably hereditary and nothing to be concerned about, that this wouldn't affect his walking or anything. I started looking at everyone's feet in my family, and yep, my son has my brother's toes. My mom however thinks his shoes and socks must've been too small for him at one point and made his toes grow crooked. Who knows? But I know I am more vigilant about how his socks and shoes fit now. I just wonder if anyone else is going through this and have you ever gotten a different diagnosis? It bothers me some because his toes just don't lay right but it's not causing him any pain so I guess that's the main thing. Thanks in advance.
Thanks everyone! I feel very reassured that this will not cause any problems as he gets older. This was my main concern.

Yes, I agree with the others. My son has this too - just the way he is. It hasn't presented any problems yet ... just seems to be inherited.
I certainly don't think it was caused by ill-fitting shoes or socks, so please don't burden yourself believing that.
Best wishes.
I've seen this only people doesn't seem to be a problem. And no his shoes an dsocks didn't do this to him. My hubs is flatfooted and his feet look like flintstone feet, my son has the same feet!
My entire family on my dad's side has the crooked toe next to the baby toe. It must be a strong gene because it has been passed on for at least 4 generations! None of us have problems with it.
Hi there!
When my daughter was younger I took her to her pediatrician because I had noticed some of her toes were very crooked. He said that in her case it was a condition called camptodactyly. This condition can affect fingers or toes. He said it was genetic and generally harmless. He said not to be concerned about it unless it caused her pain. She is 18 now and hasn't complained about anything other than the way her toes look in flip flops!
We are always careful when trying on shoes to make sure they are roomy enough in the right areas. Make sure you check other places besides just the big toe area when your son tries on new shoes. Otherwise, chances are it won't be an issue.
Good luck and God bless!

I have this. My toe next to the little toe is crooked and my little toe lies on top. My feet have been this way since I was born. It's genetic( not from shoes) and it's not painful.
Both my girls have it! Their toe next to the pinky toe is crooked- just like daddy. If it doesnt seem to be painful I would not worry
