The blood is not coming from my bum, but thanks for all the advice for if that should happen.

What can I do next?

I had the same thing happen to me. I am 25 weeks into my third pregnancy, and never had it happen with either of my other 2 pregnancies. Just like you, it would happen after I had a bowel movement, and happened at a couple of different times in my pregnancy. Everything is fine with they baby and with me...don't know why it happened, though.

It doesn't sound good, I would let the Doctor know if I were you. Many years ago, when I was pregnant with my second child I started bleeding and it was red. I told my Doctor and he told me that I had "placenta previa" (I think it's spelled that way), he told me to take it easy. I don't know if you have the same problem, but you should let your Doctor know, soon. P. R.

have you eaten any beets? Beets can cause beeturia, red urine/bowel movements. And I wouldn't be surprised if pregnancy enhances the proteins that make that happen. I noticed it more when I was pregnant.

Actual bleeding should be checked out by your OB, but you may want to wait to see if it goes away. Bleeding in the first trimester can be normal, but it's smart to get an ultrasound just to check things out.

Congrats!!!

I know this is a wierd question, but are you sure it is coming from there-it could be coming from your bum. I have hemroids just because I stress out all the time, but it is common to get them when you are pregnant. It happens whenever there is more pressure than usual. I don't know, but make sure it is coming from there, because if it happens when you are having a bm then it is possible that it is hemroids.

If you haven't already, you should really call your doctor. They are often hesitant to do much that early in a pregnancy but it may put your mind at ease. Good luck!

I just had my 2nd baby 10wks ago and the same thing happened with this pregnancy. I actually ignored it for a few weeks. After it kept happening, I went to my OB. They took blood and tested my levels. Because they were low, it seemed my body was fighting the pregnancy. My OB put my on Progesterone right away for 14 wks. Please don't wait any longer to go to the dr. It could be nothing but I know for me, the progesterone stopped me from misscarrying. Good luck with your pregnancy :)

Hi J.~
I would definitely have it check out by your doctor just to be on the safe side..but the same thing happened to me throughout my 1st trimester and everything was fine (Have a healthy and happy 1yr old).. it's very disconcerning and scary but it is pretty common.. As long as you don't have other symptoms too..

Good luck!

Hi J.,

Are you certain that the blood is not coming from your rear? Is there any blood at all (wouldn't generally be much) on the actual bowel movements? I ask because either anal fissures or a bleeding hemorrhoid could cause that to happen, though, again, out of your rear. It would explain the timing of when you are having the bleeding. If you are 100% sure the bleeding is coming from your vagina, you can either spot with implantation or around the time when you would have had a period if you were not pregnant, and neither is a problem. However, there is no harm in calling your OB. It's his/her job to field these kinds of questions. Please do call your OB, just to be sure.

It may be nothing but it is always wise to be checked out. I would say you are styraining to much and need to take a softner daily. Senokot is good and all natural. At 4 weeks it may be that your hormone levels are not high enough to signal your body enough that you are pregnant causing intermitant bleeding.

Hi J.. I wouldn't worry too much about it, just run it by your Dr. I think the same thing happened to me and the Dr said it was ok. My first pregnancy I actually had a period the first month I was prego. Is it time for your normal period, your body could just be adjusting. Good luck.

J., you need to see your doctor right away, you should not be having no blood at all, call your doctor, I'm sure they will tell you to come in and get checked.

I would say it is completely normal. I had some spotting with both pregnancies. Maybe when you go #2 that's just when your body releases it?!

Hi J.,

Its definitely possible that it is from implantation. Are you straining at all? Because you could be bleeding-sensitive areas etc. I would call your OB just to get peace of mind.

Are you sure it is coming from your female parts? It could be hemeroids.
