I would add some vinegar or baking soda to the load. They are great at getting smelly things fresh again and they are safe to use for baby items. I use vinegar many times for mildewed clothes or towels. Works like a charm!

I use "Greased Lightning" on everything for the laundry. It will get out any stain/smell from baby clothing :) You can get it at the grocery store in the cleaner section (by the windex, not the detergent). But you can use it on any clothes, I have for years!

Try vinegar and baking soda.
Soak the bibs in it for awhile. Couple hours even.
Then dry it real well.
Have a lot of extra bibs on hand... so you can rotate them.
Or try leaving it out in the sun for awhile... after you wash and dry them. Or dry them in the sun, until COMPLETELY dry. All afternoon if need be.

All the best,
Susan

pre-soak them in Oxi-Clean then run them through the regular cycle with your normal detergent. It will not only make the smell go away (it may take a couple of times depending on how bad it is) but also whiter and brighter! I use this with every load of laundry I do as well as the towels from my animals (I foster). Hope that helps!

Add a cup of white vinegar in the wash with the detergent. It tends to neutralize smells...even cat urine (if you happen to have cats).

Usually if I have something that is not getting as clean as I would like it in the wash, I do a baking soda wash and rinse cycle to help get the odors out.

I add vinegar to my wash. I helped get that stale smell from the bibs and sometimes the smell from a nasty diaper that just seems to linger. No need to rinse extra, the vinegar odor will not stick.

For dirty stinky clothes, somehting that I have with 3 active kids, I use Sol-U-Mel added to my washing machine. It works great and I use about a teaspoon for the enitre load. It gets shipped to my house and it is not expensive, I have not found anything that works sooo well. If you would like to try a sample completely risk free, e-mail me at ____@____.com

baking soda and vinegar are my answer to everything to do with cleaning anything!! I also make my own laundry soap and it works really well to get out smells. If you are interested in that just search for homemade liquid laundry soap and you can find a ton of recipes. I prefer the fels-naptha soap in mine. It is VERY simple to make and doesn't make much time.

One thing I did with my son with some of his bibs, etc, was toss them in with a load of regular stuff (our detergent), then I'd put them back in with a load of the other baby stuff that didn't have any extra smells with it. It was washing them twice, but it wasn't so much that it really made a difference when I was doing a load of laundry every day. I did try just washing them with our detergent and he did break out, but washing them twice was perfectly fine. Good luck!

My son was a reflux baby so there were LOTS of smelly pieces to his wardrobe (and ours). I put vinegar in a spray bottle and would spray it on the items when I put them in the hamper (same as you would spray a stain remover). It always too care of the smell.

Also, I refused to use Dreft detergent because it just doesn't clean as well as others. I used All free or Tide free and have recently switched to Up & Up free (target brand).

I agree with Donna - add vinegar to the wash & it should naturally neutralize the odor & it's a stain fighter as well! =)
