I want to give my sister a sling for her new baby (due in 2 weeks!). She already has a 4 year old at home so we need something mobile and is condusive to breastfeeding. Pre-pregancy she was a size 2X, well-endowed, and 5'10". Are their carriers you could recommend for her shape? Thanks!

I loved my zolowear ring sling (www.zolowear.com). I think any ring sling works the same way, and I've also seen cheaper (and home-made) versions of these on etsy.com.

I am a 2X also and would recommend a Moby sling for a wrap sling (great for little babies-2 years) and then a hotsling for a pouch sling. I have both for different purposes...moby is for going out, more mobile, can be used in tons of different ways and the hotsling is so easy I throw it on around the house and it only has 4-5 different uses but much easier to throw on quickly. hope this helps!

I am expecting in two weeks as well and I just bought a Maya sling or ring sling. It is the most flexible of carriers I think because it is entirely adjustable and has many different carrying options from newborn all the way up to a large toddler. For most people the default size works fine.....I was an XL pre pregnancy and 5"6' and I got mine yesterday and I think it fits fine with a nice tail left over that I can use to cover up when nursing. I have heard great things also about Ergo (but mostly for bigger babies) and Moby (but I don't think you can nurse in those) and I also have a Mei Tai (aka asian baby carrier) that I loved with an older baby, but I want newborn options right now. I tried a new native type sling but you have to be REALLY careful on the sizing cause if you get it off the thing is pretty much not usable. (That happened to me too...bought one that JUST fit, then made the mistake of putting it in the dryer....).

I got my sling from the ebay seller stellarslings. She uses beautiful fabrics too and not as expensive as the "name brand" slings.

Just thought I'd throw in another suggestion. We have a couple adjustable pouches from kangarookorner.com and they've been wonderful -- especially for new babies. The pouches are really easy to put on and pop a baby into and the adjustable ones are nice because you can tighten them up or loosen them a bit as the baby gets bigger. Now that our youngest is 9-months old, we're still using the pouch for him but using it for a hip carry. We also have a mai tei but (in my opinion) they don't work that great for newborns.

I'm not crazy about a wrap with an infant. And they can be hard to BF in.

I've had students (larger) have good luck with the new native slings and maya wraps (ring slings)

I have never bfed in it, but I love my mei tai!! I have a homemade one I got off E-bay and also I just got a BabyHawk. They are great carriers and fit all sizes and shapes. I know it can be used for bfing too.

I absolutely love my Ergo carrier (http://www.ergobabycarrier.com/). I have tried Moby, MayaWrap, Bjorn, New Native, etc and this is by far my favaorite. I am not sure about the sizing- you will have to check the website. Good luck!

I am also well endowed and 5'10 and I just purchased the Moby Wrap, which is incredibly comfortable and versatile. I highly recommend it.

I actually think wraps are the best for a newborn, and they're so flexible - some slings, etc, will only let her carry her baby in a cradle position, and her baby might hate that (as mine did). I think Moby wraps are great. I also have an Ellaroo wrap which I love.
My absolute favorite carrier - the one I use every day - is the Ergo. I think it's by far the most comfortable once babies are bigger and for walking any long distances, and it's super easy to use. However, you can't use it with a newborn unless you get the infant insert (which I've heard mixed things about) so it would really be more for later.
Your best bet, I think: the Moby
