Hi
I am not familiar with that area. However, I have a 5 and 2.5 year old and we go to local retention ponds. There usually is only a few other kids around and the hills are not too much for the kids. Good luck and have fun.

Mamas, I have a newly turned 4 year-old. Where in the Barrington/Palatine area can we take her sledding where there's not all "big kids"?

Barbara B. Rose elementary school on Penny Road in South Barrington has a nice hill for smaller kids to sled. It's never busy there.
There is probably something right near you, but if you want a little of a travel, there is a man made sledding hill in Bensenville behind their park district. And I believe Elmhurst has a sledding hill in Barrens park. You could call them for directions. It's about twenty five minutes away from you I'd say (although with this snow who knows!)
It isn't in Palatine - but in Elk Grove Village behind Byrd school is a smaller hill - all ages go there but you don't have to go to the top - it is wide enough that you can do smaller runs. Elk grove Library is just down the street - great indoor play area in the children's area - Jumps n Jiggles indoor play area and an indoor carousel in the park district building down the street.
